Walt Weiss out in Colorado.
Per ESPN, Walt's contract wasn't renewed before the end of the season and the team statement said he has decided to step down, but he didn't' really have a choice.

Walt also fully embraced sitting DJ LeMahieu a lot to win the batting title against Daniel Murphy who was hurt and couldn't play.

Said Weiss "It's a unique situation because Murphy's injured, he's not playing," Weiss said. "If he's playing, they could fight it out. I don't want DJ to lose a batting title that way [with Murphy not playing], so I'm going to pay attention to the math."

Also known as, "I don't think my guy is a good enough player to win the award, so I'll 'help' him by not playing him."

So I have about as much respect for that move and I do when Jose Reyes bunted for a hit in the final day and barely made it to first before removing himself from the game to win a batting title a couple years ago.

Fuck all these guys. Ted did it better and with class.

As the resident Rocks fan, I'm glad he's gone. He was an old school manager to a fault, putting the interests of players above the team. The situation referenced above, with LeMahieu sitting out, is but one example of this.

There's a lot of talent on the roster. The lineup and defense is good with seemingly no holes. The starting pitching is young but was better than average this year with the potential to be even better. Bullpen is the biggest need, and the challenge of managing a bullpen (in addition to the entire roster) at Coors Field calls for someone who is capable of thinking outside of the box and embracing new ideas. Weiss is not that man.

This is a very important hire given the current state of the club.
