Id bet all the money on Blount beating Ridley in a foot race in pads with both guys healthy

Really?  Because of Ridley's injury and how he might be when he gets back from it, or you really think Blount is currently faster?  Blount is listed as 30 pounds heavier than Ridley, and I would bet that's being very, very conservative on Blount weighing in at only 250.  Blount looked like he was running in quick sand last year when the Pats had him returning kicks, and to my eye, he looks even slower than that this year for Pittsburgh.  I just don't see that all.

Blount was faster last year. Ridley is quicker and gets started sooner, but Im pretty certain Blount is faster.  Better 40 time and he doesn't get dragged down from behind every time he breaks into the secondary like Ridley does.

Where do you guys get current 40 times?  I rarely see actual 40 times for guys after their pro days/combines prior to the NFL draft.  For guys like Blount, whose pro day/combine was almost 5 years ago at this point, I don't think his 40 time coming out of college would resemble his 40 time now.  Shit, his body type barely resembles the same guy that went crazy after the Boise State game.  He's put on at least 10 pounds since the NFL draft on paper, and like I said previously, I think the listed weight of 250 for him right now is a wee bit generous.  Guys spend months, if not longer, training to run (and lift and move) that one 40 yard dash on that day.  Its literally the most important 4-5 seconds of their lives in some cases, and I would be surprised if most guys ever run as fast as they do that day later in their careers, because they never actually train for that specific skill at any other point like they do prior to the NFL draft.

I'm not going to disagree that Blount breaks more tackles, but I don't think Ridley gets dragged down from behind any more than Blount does, and if he did, I'd have to see who was chasing them to figure out what to make of a specific instance of one getting tackled where the other wouldn't.  I don't remember thinking to myself that Ridley shouldn't have been caught from behind too many times.  I've said to myself that Ridley probably should have made a better move or been able to get into the clear and take a run to the house, but I don't remember too many instances of him reaching the second level with open field in front of him and him getting dragged down from behind.
