Interesting Jeff Sullivan article points out that the AL has been more or less the inverse of preseason projections.
 
One of the implications is that the races should be wide open going forward, because if teams regress somewhat toward their original projections (as it's reasonable to expect they will), that will tend to produce an end result where everybody is pretty close to .500.
 
If this is how it goes down, we might be in for 1967-level exciting pennant races.

Interesting observation.  Not Sullivan's best piece of writing, IMO, but it gets the (surprising) point across.
 
Side note: Sullivan is one of my favorite baseball writers of the day and I'm a little surprised he doesn't get more love here at SoSH.
