Leaving in a bit to the studio :)
Not sure how folks feel about renewed/refurb iPhones, but Amazon has renewed premium iPhone 13 Pro Max 128gb with a 1 year warranty for $756-779.

Ive been watching a number of iPhones for my wife, and this is the lowest price I've seen since it was $815 for about 18 hours a month ago.

Just have to decide if she wants to keep or return the 12 Pro Max 512gb for $700 that she recently ordered, or get this 13 for $60 more instead. She loves the idea of all that storage on the 12, but I get the impression that she doesnt really fathom just how big 512gb is (we ordered that 12 because I felt that all that extra storage would enhance the resale/trade in price)

Is your wife a photographer? For context: I’m not. I’ve had a 13 Pro since September (and an iPhone for for about a decade), and I only use 41 GB of my phone’s internal storage. My wife is a shutterbug. On her Android phone, she’s filled up 256 GB of onboard storage, a 512 GB SD card, and hundreds of GB of cloud storage.

Correct. If she is a shutterbug the 128GB will be useless as a phone and camera

My wife has also filled up the storage on her phone a couple times with pictures, but that's because she takes 10 of everything to share the best one and never deletes the other 9. Running out of space forced her into some cleanup that would have seemed like an insurmountable task if it were an even larger amount of storage in the phone.

We use OneDrive for the same purpose. I usually find a deal for around $70 for Office 365 Family and it covers both of us and 3 others for a year. But I still like to not look back on OneDrive and see years of junk picture hoarding.

I'm not positive, but with iCloud I don't need to do anything. It stores low res on the phone and it keeps the high res in the cloud. I take a ton of pics and haven't even looked at my storage space in years.

But yeah, the family 365 is one of the best deals going when you can get it on sale. We use it too and the amount of crap that it comes with is awesome

I did that one year, but it's a little annoying the way Amazon does it. You don't get a redemption key from them. Your subscription gets added to some Amazon app locker and is set to automatically renew at the full rate after one year. In order to use a discounted redemption key again, you have to let the subscription expire, then activate again during your grace period.

Instead I've been getting it from NewEgg. You can get a 15 month subscription bundled with some useless AV software for $70. They give you the key that you can plug in on the Microsoft site and everything stays there.

Microsoft 365 Family | 15-Month Subscription up to 6 people | Premium Office apps | 1TB OneDrive cloud storage | PC/Mac Download and Norton Secure VPN (Internet Privacy) 1 Device (PC Mac or Mobile) 1 Year (newegg.com)

Samsung 970 and 980 ssd prices have fallen off a cliff. You can get a 1TB 970 for $55 and a 980 for $75 on amazon.

Can i use any of these in my PS5? I never thought I'd run out of room but my nephew keeps coming over and downloading stupid ass games.
The 980 with a heat sink will work with a PS5. Personally, I’m assuming the NAND over supply issues will keep driving the price down into the summer and am holding out a bit longer.

I don't know about the PS5.

Other than that, consider:

1. I bought my 500GB 970 SSD in spring of 2019 for $130. The 1TB model was going for $250 or so.

2. The price for the 1TB 970 was hovering at more than a $100 for the best part of the last year, then dropped to $80 a couple of months ago and it's $55 now. How much lower can it go? My guess is they are trying to get rid of stock.

3. The 970 is the best gen3 drive there is. The average user won't notice the difference between gen 3, 4 and 5 drives. The 980s and 990s benchmark better, but hard to come across a real world scenario where you see a difference.

4. You have to own a current gen motherboard to take advantage of the newer hard drives. Most mobos have PCIE3 slots, so a 970 is the best drive you can get for those.

I bought one for myself today.

To follow up here, 980 pro prices have continued to fall. Now down to $60/$70 for 1 TB with/without heat sink and $120/$140 for 2 TB. I’ve mostly been watching the 2 TB with heat sink prices, and I think it was $180 in March, and then dropped and stayed at $170 for awhile. I am probably going to pull the trigger soon as it feels like waiting longer is likely a game of diminishing returns at this point.

990 prices have also dropped significantly.

Just wait until Prime Day in a couple of weeks. That's when you ll find the best bargains until Thanksgiving I think.
