Put Betts and Swihart at the bottom of that lineup, with a better 3b or SS with Holt in the super sub role, and 2016 looks really really good.

Pedroia's out with flu-like symptoms. Farrell said Pedroia's here but there's no way he can play. He was sick during last night's game too.

Dustin Pedroia is out with flu-like symptoms. Grabbed a few things from his locker and disappeared. #RedSox Farrell said no way he could go.

Where's the A squad playing today?
The Tito Sunday JV Line-up thing is not something we saw much of last year.

If winning isn't important, why not promote Betts and play him every day?  Why not play JBJ every day?  Why not play Will at third every day?

If winning is important, why sit Napoli and Vazquez on the same day, especially with Pedroia out of the line-up due to illness.  Butler and Kelly are not part of the future.  There is little to be gained by seeing them.  Now sure, Vazquez needs rest and I get that Butler will need to play once in a while until Ross returns.  I just would prefer they space things out rather than rest starters in bunches.

Now, yeah, this is a lost season so in the end it matters little.  But the logic is not apparent to me (unless Napoli is ill or beat up or asked for a rest).

He was so bad today. He seems to fear pitching at Fenway, and it showed. Can they arrange for him to pitch only in really big ballparks?
Glad we can get a bead on a guy after only 3 starts. Of course that also involves ignoring the last couple years he has pitched in the majors, but hey this is sosh it's part of the fun

I agree the reference to Kelly was Kelly Johnson. He's not going to be a starter, but they could easily be looking at him as a veteran bench guy for 2015. No telling what they're going to do in trades this winter, so to say there's clearly no role for a good veteran role player seems premature.

I'd also like to see Betts playing nothing but CF. So you can't play both him and JBJ on the major league level.

I am betting (no pun intended) that we see Betts at third if we see him at all. Vic will man center with the other 30 or 40 games going to holt. If there is a season ending injury to vic we might see Betts in center.

Every pitcher has bad starts. Wouldn't throw him away just yet.

Also - I can't make heads or tails of the thread. Purpose?

Thinking the reference was to the pitcher, I was reflecting what the NESN guys said Joe Kelly said, namely that he could easily hit it into the monster seats himself, so he worried about getting batters out in Fenway. Obviously it was only one start, but he himself indicated that pitching there scares him.
