The Reds have been a really fun team, but their season is falling apart right now, just like the Red Sox.

There
Not a great route by Matos. I don't know if it was catchable with a better route but I think it would have been close.

MLB.com with a list of those who've lost no-hitters after 8.2, with a shoutout to Dave Steib's memorable achievement

Aug. 4, 1989: Dave Stieb, Blue Jays vs. Yankees
First hit: Roberto Kelly
Sept. 30, 1988: Stieb, Blue Jays vs. Orioles
First hit: Jim Traber
Sept. 24, 1988: Stieb, Blue Jays at Indians
First hit: Julio Franco
Stieb actually threw a no-hitter on Sept. 2, 1990. But before that, no one was more snake-bitten than him -- Stieb lost a perfect game with two outs in the ninth in 1989, and lost no-hitters with two outs and two strikes in the ninth in back-to-back starts in 1988 (he also lost another no-hit bid opening the ninth inning in 1985).

Pulled after 7 with the Dodgers up 10-0.

Final line was 7ip 0R 1H 0BB 3k on 84 pitches.

I picked him up as a streamer in fantasy today and I'm feeling pretty good about that.

Devin Williams for the Brewers for the 9th in NY.
Bummer for Burns but makes sense in a 0-0 tie where he's already pushing 110 pitches. If he was in the low 100s and his team was up 2-3 I bet he probably takes the mound in the 9th.

I still remember the headline on the front page of the Toronto Sun after the Sept 30 game: "000-000-00OH NO!"

Now that's a guy who was a really solid MLB pitcher. 176 career wins, 103 complete games, 30 shutouts, 3.44 career era, 122 career era+. Won 16+ games six times. Seven time all-star, won a World Series.

Any time you want to see a Tigers fan have a meltdown, just post Stieb's numbers in the '80s alongside those of Jack Morris.

Combined no hitters barely qualify as interesting. Did Snell ask out? Their season is over, it's not like you're saving him for anything.

I have no idea who Joe Boyle is, but he's pitched 15 major league innings without allowing a run, include six today without...well, you know.

Angels lineup without Ohtani and Trout doesn't scare anyone, not even a rookie.
