I’d rather watch Tristan Casas fill out an application for life insurance than watch Bobby Dalbec or Franchy Cordero do anything on a baseball field.
Man... I was pretty bullish on Dalbec. It wasn't just his August explosion alone... he had shown in his first call-up, along with some low BABiP that he could hover around an .800OPS if it normalized but I've given up. He just looks so lost at the plate- I know... he's been "average" against RHP for a while again...but the Sox can't carry this anymore and expect to compete. I suspect Bloom is there too. Clearly. Starting Vaz at 1B first game after the ASB?

I'm confused. They don't play until 6 and it's against Syracuse.

I think that was May 1st, as he's had only 1 HR against Buffalo and it was May 1st.
Shhh. Someone is trying to create a narrative to justify a call-up or increase trade value.
I hear that HR still hasn't landed.

Sure, why not? Let's see how efficient he is, maybe he can catch or play third.

At it's base, Bloom's job isn't hard; get good players and then you'll have a good team. Trying to prove how clever you are by dumpster diving on every transaction is becoming exhausting.
The exhaustion is really on us. Casual fans only follow the material moves; there’s nothing wrong with that. And those of us who follow the team closely miss the forest for the trees sometimes. It’s those material moves that make or break the club, at least in the short run.

Bloom is going to make a shitload of big moves in the next 18 months. He’ll still have a year left on Chris Sale’s contract heading into 2024, but everyone else on the team will be someone he either brought in or affirmatively decided to keep around. He’ll have made his mark on the farm system by then too. At that point, we’ll be better able to judge his administration; for now, we’re kind of making progress reports.

The 2021-22 offseason doesn’t look great. It’s too early to judge the prospects, but you’d probably undo the Renfroe trade if you could. And you’d probably resign Schwarber instead of bringing in Story. (That would have kept you under the tax line too; we don’t care about that in itself, but it should in theory mean more dry powder down the road.)

But looking at Bloom’s tenure as a whole, I’m still a fan. His 2020-21 offseason was great. He has upgraded the farm system more rapidly than I would have expected. And I can’t kill him for the Mookie trade; it was a deal he had to do given the financial parameters ownership gave him. The small stuff has been good, but it’s the handful of big moves he’ll make in the next year or two that will dictate the success of his tenure.

Mets just traded for 1b vogelbach. My guess is Dom’a days as a Met are done. They can probably keep him on the DL for another week but I woukdnt be surprised if he is DFA’d before the end of the month.

Starting Vaz isn't an indictment of Dalbec, it's an indictment of Cordero. Vaz wouldn't be starting if a lefty was pitching today.
