That’s a fair price for Foles, but it’s a big hit to the Bears’ draft capital:
Second round: No. 43 (from Raiders), No. 50
Fourth round: No. 140 (comp pick)
Fifth round: No. 163
Sixth round: No. 196, No. 200 (from Eagles)
Seventh round: No. 226 (from Raiders), No. 233
This also leaves the Bears with $8m in cap space (accounting for roughly $5m in draft picks) before Quinn inks his deal. So there will have to be a flurry of other moves to free up cap space.
As I posted in the free agency game thread, the Bears coaches grumbled to the media that Trubisky requires a simplified, slimmed down playbook. Foles will allow them to run Nagy’s big ol’ playbook, which he believes is a major competitive advantage. We shall see.
