Can I get a Verizon phone that works in Iceland?

We've got a 3 year old LG smartphone, so ready for an upgrade anyway, but are wondering if we can get a SIM card for Iceland (GSM) for this phone, of if there's an upgrade we can get (we buy pretty basic, not looking to spend $300 on a phone) that would work here and there.

Thanks!

Need to know which model of LG phone it is. Some are easy to unlock and some aren't.

Have you called Verizon and asked them for a SIM unlock since your phone isn't under contract any more?

If your phone is unlocked, getting a GSM sim card in Iceland is ridiculously easy. Both Vodafone and Siminn offer sim cards and prepaid minutes/MB packages all over the place (including the 24-hour convenience store at Keflavik airport).

Looking into those links, thanks.

We did have a loaner unlocked phone last time we went and got the SIM card and needed it (and had to add more time on the run!) when we broke down, but that phone is not available to us this time

Need to know which model phone you have, because it may not even be a GSM phone (Verizon's network is CDMA).
