“I think it’s great. I think he [Zimmerman} should be playing left,” Harper said. “Rendon’s a good third baseman. He should be playing third. We’ve got one of the best second basemen in the league in Danny Espinosa. Of course, we want the best-hitting lineup in there. I think Rendon playing third and Zim playing left is something that would be good for this team. I think that should be what’s happening.”

“I’m in the lineup. That’s all that matters,” Harper said. “If I had the lineup, it would maybe not be the same. He’s got the lineup card. He’s got the pen. That’s what he’s doing. So there’s nothing I can do about it. I’m hitting sixth tonight. Hopefully I can be able to get some runners on base in front of me and get some protection and hopefully get some knocks.”

Awkward for all.  He's been entitled all his life.  Very talented.  But you can't throw your manager in front of the bus to the media.  So you want to be player/manager Bryce?

His idiot first year manager threw Harper under the bus publicly for no reason other than to show him who's boss; I have no problem with him speaking out on that angle.

The Washington Nationals just got All-Star left fielder Bryce Harper back from injury, a move that shifted Ryan Zimmerman back to third base -- where he's not very well-suited to be playing these days, given his shoulder and general throwing issues.

In the wake of that, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports has a column containing this statement:

Williams, in his first year managing, is in a difficult if not impossible position. He needs to win over Harper, who, when healthy, is the Nationals' most dynamic player. But Williams also needs to win over his other veterans, some of whom resent that Harper is the most famous and popular Nat even though he has yet to play 140 games in a season and is still only 21.
