The endzone view of Vince standing directly in front of Cassel's checkdown is amazing.

If Cassel had a split second longer he could have had a big play on that one, because the LB had slid over to cover Cassel running, and the receiver had started to turn upfield behind Vince.  A soft little touch pass over Vince could have yielded a huge play for Minnesota.

But I guess that's where pressure really helps.

Yup. Pressure helps coverage. Coverage helps pressure.

"It looks like these two guys have Shane and Rob and there's just a little bit of hesitation there, a little miscommunication, and uh that means it's a touchdown."

This stuff is like crack - and it is incredible to get a peek into well coached this team is.
Was coming here to post this.

Seeing McCourty and Arrington standing on either side of the FG attempt in position to scoop up a block was a moment of sheer awe for me.

Chuck will know better than I, but I have to imagine that's rare, right?

Yep, that, and also the coverage on the Jones strip sack - there's a red cone around where the receivers are, and literally no place for Tannehill to throw within it. The outlet back is free - but he didn't chip Jones on his way into the backfield, so Jones gets to Tannehill before Tannehill can check down to the back. Another moment of awe!

Chuck is probably still fapping to that last punt coverage play.  My favorite bit is how Butler executes his (crucial) block and pushes his guy right into another guy, pretty much blocking two guys at once.

The most amazing part of the other clip to me is Brady's throw on the second Gronk play.  He is a few milliseconds from getting pasted by the D-Lineman who beat Connolly (?), and has only a small window to throw to Gronk in, and somehow makes a perfect throw while getting pasted.  Yeah, he did a good job before that looking off the safety, as BB points out, but that throw was just such a tough one to execute.

Also, on the Jones strip-sack, it looked like Tannehill had the underneath crossing route open, even if he didn't have time for the extra step-and-pivot to get to the outlet guy to his left.  Jones's rush was SO GODDAMN FAST that Tannehill didn't have the time for a little flip.  Just great rush technique from Chandler.  The end-zone view was even more revealing to me - looked like he faked with both his hands going left at the snap, the OL committed a lot of his weight to Chandler's left, and with his first step, Chandler reversed, went to his right, got the edge and got around in 3 steps.  Just an incredible play by him, so glad to have him back.

That little bit of insight that they knew that the pressure they got last week from the 6 men on one side of the center last week would lead to the Jets being focused on that this week and lowering the priority on blocking Wilfork in the center combined with the detail that that ball from that position on the field would go over then center, in contrast to last week's ball position going over the side of the D-line, shows the incredible amount of depth BB and the coaching staff understand games and situations.  If they really set up that way because they knew the Jets would adjust that way in order to draw them to that side of the line, despite knowing the ball would go up the middle, that's just a level of gamesmanship that is beyond what I realized goes on.

Yes, it says something. It says that this team can win games with defense and ST on the occasion that they are playing a tough defensive line that can penetrate and they can't score a ton. I personally prefer this balance headed the playoffs to recent vintages of greater offense and a gashed defense every game.

Brilliant as usual.  Really seemed beaming with pride today, by BB standards.  Loved the recognition by McCourty on the INT, appreciated the cut-block by Solder on the Edelman-to-Amendola play, and Lafell's blocking on the (other) Amendola touchdown.  Stuff that you'll never see announcers pick up on and point out, but that really make you appreciate the non-headline players on this team.

On the long play to Gronk in the first quarter, Brady also has Wright open down the sideline for an equally big play. Ravens really blew coverage on that one.

I love Belichick calling out the "why don't you just keep doing what you were doing?" second-guessers. The other guys get paid, too.

The LaFell block is great. He seems like an anti-diva WR. After a couple seasons of really striking out on free agency pickups, they've done well this year with LaFell, Revis, Browner, and Chung.

That was great, and it was awesome seeing McCourty's quick recognition of the same play coming at him from the other direction.

Did BB cut off the sleeves on a windbreaker?

I loved the call-outs for LaFell on the double block and McCourty on the recognition. The way that BB talked about McCourty really makes me think they're going to franchise him if they have to.

Here's an article written by Devin's twin brother, on what it's like top watch him in the postseason every season while he sits at home: http://mmqb.si.com/2015/01/08/jason-mccourty-devin-mccourty-nfl-playoffs/

So I hope what I’m about to say doesn’t come across as ungrateful, or even greedy. But there is one void in my life, one thing that eats at me, that occupies my mind, that irks me to no end.

I’ve never been to the NFL playoffs. And it sucks.

January is always the hardest. When my season ended, I flew up to Foxborough to hang out with my twin brother, Devin. He plays for the Patriots, and let’s just say they’re usually playing at this time of year.

But the truth is, year after year, Devin is closer. I hate the fact that only once have I played in a Week 16 game that mattered (that was my third year, when we went 9-7 and were still in the hunt for a playoff spot; we didn’t get in).

Think about that. Jason McCourty has only played one game, week 16 or later, that mattered. One.

Can you imagine what game plan film review is like?  These breakdowns show me things I've never seen or appreciated before and its just a recap.  I can only imagine the nuances and techniques that are on display when Bill is showing how to combat an opponent.

And on the Edleman pass, it looked like he could have run it in himself if Amendola was blocking on the play.  Right calls at the right time.

On the Harmon interception, check out the absolute blanket coverage, not only by Revis, but also by McCourty. With Daniels bracketed by Chung and Wilson (and a quick shoutout to Tavon Wilson who has quietly had a solid season as Chung's backup), Flacco really had no other play but the long pass to Smith. My guess is that Flacco was thinking DPI here rather than a reception but never thought INT.

You wonder why guys like Revis take deals here and the Jets say "we'd have paid him that!!!"   This is why.  Especially for many guys who have already gotten paid a lot of money along the way, nothing matches the chance to win....and nowhere gives them that chance with the same confidence as New England.  They ain't coming here for the weather, the nightlife, or the atmosphere in the neighborhood around the stadium---they are coming to play great football and have a chance to win.

Yep.  Above a certain point, the money becomes a very marginal consideration.

Gronk is amazingly fast for a Huge man.

The Pass to Gronk....you see Wright Edelman and him all release at the same time.  Edelmen has a slight jam, Wright basically has a clean release (but is running at a slight angle) and Gronk although with a clean release has to consider that someone might chip him.

Wright starts half a yard back.  Edelman half a yard ahead on the LOS. Gronk and Wright in a 3 pt Stance.

When Wright makes his cut towards the sideline...
Gronk is 5 yards ahead of him.
Edelman is 3.

Edelman Gains about 4 more yards on Wright by the time he comes out of the cut. So he ends up 7 yards downfield total.
Gronk meanwhile is 6 MORE Yards down the field (for a total of 11).

According to 40 times  Edelman is a 4.5 guy, Wright is a 4.65 guy and Gronk is a 4.68 guy.

I bet there are not many TEs who would beat a WR  down the field by that much even if given a free release while the WR gets a slight chuck.

I have to imagine part of it isn't just speed but scheme as well.  I assume Edelman has a spot he is supposed to be at a certain amount of time after the snap, and he isn't necessarily running at his fasted speed.

Could be I'm overthinking it though.
