Fifa's YouTube channel is streaming live. Right now they are showing red carpet festivities. Worth it just to see Pogba's suit.
She's one of the 3 finalists.I'm not up on women's soccer but is Carli Lloyd really not one of the top 3 in the world? She should also get goal of the year, imo.
Thank you. I don't watch enough football to be a good judge, but those guys seemed like they were rewarded just because of their names and their team.FIFPro World XI:
You can make a case for a guy like Sergio Ramos, who leads Reals defense, even if he makes mistakes constantly. Happens to the best, period. The midfielders and forwards are alright, too, yes, you could include others as well, but those are perfect choices. But players like Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and Marcelo should never, ever be chosen in such a scenario like the World XI, if actual performances count. If you go by big names, team achievements or charisma, pick those three guys over David Alaba, Ricardo Rodriguez (WOB), Mats Hummels, Philipp Lahm, Jerome Boateng and the various other players from Serie A or Ligue 1, which I can´t judge perfectly.
I don´t complain that there´s a huge favourism towards certain players (or teams) all the time, although there are many several players on the same level in the offensive part of the game. Again, those choices are defensible. But this defense is ridiculous.
The lack of respect Diego Godin gets is baffling. He's anchored one of the best defense's in Europe for the last three years.FIFPro World XI:
Neuer (Bayern) - Dani Alves (Barca), Sergio Ramos (Real), Thiago Silva (PSG), Marcelo (Real) - Iniesta (Barca), Modric (Real), Pogba(Juve) - Ronaldo(Real), Neymar(Barca), Messi(Barca).

Not sure she's the MVP of her own team. I would have voted Rapinoe, but Alex Morgan did have some decisive moments in the world cup, chief among them drawing the PK (against the run of play) that put them up against Germany in what was probably the 'real' Final.I'm not up on women's soccer but is Carli Lloyd really not one of the top 3 in the world? Everyone played a role, but they scored 10 goals in the knockout stages, and Lloyd scored 6 of them (and got the assist on another). She was one of the favorites for the Golden Ball BEFORE she scored a hat trick in the final. If I was going to pick the next-most-valuable on the team, I'd take Sauerbrunn over Rapinoe or Morgan. Not sure she's the MVP of her own team. On the other hand, Carli Lloyd is a big-time player who scores big-time goals in big-time games.
Maybe this was a lifetime achievement award of sorts.
