I'm working second shift this week so I'm depending on y'all to work your game thread magic to nurture and grow this 2 game winning streak. We also need to get this team closer to a .500 home record. A sweep of the Jays will put them a game over, but you can't sweep a team without winning the first game. So you guys do that thing that you do and Houck...

Series 26: JAYS vs SOX
The last time Toronto faced us, they were swept.
We left the Jays Blue and we laughed while they wept.
They’re in our house now and our home team is pepped.
The Agents of Chaos have recently stepped
up the intensity, and we’ve swiftly leapt
back into the race. All those doubts that had crept
into Red Sox fans hearts and souls can be kept
at bay for a while because we’re better prepped
for a playoff run. We’re no longer inept.
Contenders. Not pretenders. Time to accept.

Jays have lost six in a row and their rookie callup (who is like Abreu or Casas if the hit tool wasn't as good) just got suspended for like 80 games for PEDs.

Bichette might be back at some point this series, though.

Blue Jays have yet to post a starting pitcher. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox lineup change?

"Yoshida needs ABs, we can't play without a 1B, Wong can't play every game, Rafaela may be turning it around or is at least hot, and you just have to 1-2-3 the speed and so Hamilton is 2nd."

Or so I imagine.

But it looks like it has a soft underbelly.

Will the opening-game-of-a-series struggles continue? We've been especially bad in the first game series at home.
A quick eyeballing looks like we are 1-11 in the first game of a series at Fenway this year, and that we have been outscored 74 to 17 in those 12 games.
That seems crazy.

So it appears that we have a winning percentage in first games of series at home of .083.
In all other games, it's .621. In all other games we are outscoring opponents 346-241.
And these 12 games have all been at HOME. We're 17-9 in all other home games, but only 18-20 overall at home.

Amazing and sad how much better Bobby Dalbec fits this team than the current version of Yoshida. Really hope this guy turns it around soon, but it is beginning to feel like his contract was an exceptional reason to fire Bloom.

Roster moves
Wong to paternity list. Booser and Keller down. Wink and Campbell back, along with Heinemen.
Damnit. Loved Booser and his story. Hope he's back soon.

Congrats Wong! Talk about a great year professionally and personally!

Hug the baby and wife and get back to work.

I'm sure Booser will be back sometime soon. Anderson is due to be DFA'd sometime.

Booser worked all three games in Cincinnati. His departure has to be purely about getting a fresh arm up and giving him a breather. He won't be gone long, IMO (minimum 10 days unless someone goes on the IL).

I predicted somewhere yesterday that Winckowski might be brought up to start tomorrow. So far, halfway there.

So did Wong. Thinking back, I thought Cora said before the series that Wong would be playing all 3 games. I wonder if they already knew (induction/c-section) when the birth was most likely and were planning accordingly.
