Haven't started a game thread in a hot minute, so I thought why not.

The last time the Celtics won it all, the Yankees followed suit ... a year later. Hopefully we don't have to wait the full calendar year this time.

Anyway, Ben Rice is up to replace Rizzo and will get most starts against right-handers, while DJLM will start at first against lefties.

Boone is gone tonight for his kid's graduation, so Brad Ausmus will be wearing the skipper uniform.

Oh, and these are two of the best teams in baseball and the Yankees could use some wins after struggling mightily in Boston.

Ben Rice! Always exciting when a kid gets their first chance.

I know athletes rarely share their true feelings, but I'm always super curious what it is like for guys like this to suddenly get called up and then report for duty to play with Judge and Soto and everyone else. It has to be so surreal.

They do get to hang together in spring training, so that must help a little at least. But yeah, agreed.

Got hit by a pitch. Could be a broken pinky finger, based on what Cone said. Judge slammed his bat into the rack when he came off the bases, then went straight down the runway. Telltale reaction.

edit: Judge actually played CF in top of fourth, then was pinch-hit for in bottom of fourth.

I did not see the slamming the bat, but I did see him high fiving teammates with that hand on the way into the runway, it did not seem like he was moving fast or trying to avoid anyone or even favoring it. I will remain hopeful.

Yes, he did that, too. At first, I thought that meant he was okay.

Judge’s demeanor is always so even. To do the thing with his teammates first is typical of his leadership. Not a me first kind of guy.

I really don’t care that much about the intent part of these HBPs. If you’re wild enough to injure guys, it’s still completely your fault.

It sucks for the league too, they don’t benefit from Betts and possibly Judge missing a lot of games.

Gleyber just made a great diving stop to rob Henderson of a single in the sixth.

I mean, the ones on the fingers, I think that's just bad luck.

Unlike 1B or C possibilities, NY is very thin on internal OF replacements right now. Dominguez was back and crushing but maybe pulled something and is getting MRI results today. Pereira is out for the year, Greg Allen is on the IL, maybe Oscar Gonzalez?

Nestor went up and in on Henderson right before Gleyber robbed him of a hit.

Holmes‘ high-wire act continues but Yanks win, 4-2. Now we wait on the Judge x-rays.

Boone has no new info, just came out.

This feels like MLB The Show has decided your created player is too good and so you need to be nerfed with an injury. Just awful.

Dominguez has an oblique strain (announced by Boone after the game), so not an option for a while.

Ooh, what about Spencer Jones? He has been up and down (more down) in AA but he looked incredible in the spring.

Whew. Win feels much better now. He seemed pretty positive. Guessing he sits tomorrow, which is fine, but seems like it won't be a big deal.
