Need some innings out of Rodon today. It's time for Lugo's fairy dust to run out.

Soto back at DH but Judge sits for the first time this year.

Here's hoping your reverse jinx works for the second night in a row.

But yeah, wow. Jones in RF. Slight downgrade from Judge.

Why the hell is Baltimore still playing Tampa? What? Since when are there Friday to Monday series?

Can Stanton not play RF anymore? Serious question, I don't know what his current declared limitations are, I may have skipped out on those articles

Yeah, it seems like they've flipped back to never letting him play the field after last year. Which is mostly fine with me, but then you sometimes get lineups like this.

Watch Jahmai Jones have a good game and start up the questions about whether he should start playing over DJ/Rizzo.

Heh, just to be clear, last night I meant "whoa why would they hit Grisham 5th in a lineup of these specific nine guys?", which was clearly quite wrong.

Tonight I mean more of an overall 'I understand why it's these nine guys tonight, but yikes', with no Judge, Stanton or Dominguez (this lineup will not be at its full potential until he is hitting 4th behind Judge IMO).

Haha, Rodon definitely just yelled "Fuck off" after striking out Renfroe, among other things.

You have to love when sacrificing to get your slightly-above-backup-status catcher a high leverage AB works (and was also the right call)

Rodon has kind of been an unsung hero.

Especially after all the shit he has been given for last year.
I feel like he's been pitching far enough ahead of his FIP that nobody has wanted to jinx it. Hard to deny these last couple of starts though, he's been awesome

Don't love the ABs once they've made it 4-0. Make him work a bit and get into the pen. It's the first game of the series.

Damn, kind of harsh for Ruocco to bring up the fact that Gordon struggled in the 2004 ALCS as they reveal him as tonight's Name That Yankee. Felt a little unnecessary.

It's amazing how you can really feel it when a lineup's talent falls below critical mass. They still did enough

Yankees have been burned by being positioned in the wrong place a couple times tonight. Cheap double for Witt Jr.

It's like he is intentionally trying to jinx NY way too often, he is an OK announcer but stop that.

Jones has made a lot of plays in RF tonight, tonight could be NY's best defensive OF in a long time. Grisham is one of the best still, Verdugo has been the best defensive LF so far this year, and Jones looks good.

That first strike call to Melendez was maybe the worst call I have seen all season, not even close.

Anyone catch the shirtless kid with multiple massive chains right at the end there? Don't think he liked that strikeout.

What a rude win. We'll sit Judge, Stanton, Weaver, and Holmes, and still beat you.

It was bad but I feel like I've seen worse. Or at least, it's on par with many many others I've seen. Electronic zones are definitely coming.

Another very good win, Lugo has been one of the best few pitchers in the league so far. Aggressive bunting leading directly to 2 or 3 of the 4 runs in a 4-2 win, got to love that.

And tomorrow, presumably Judge and Soto back together again after a four game hiatus.

I really loved that DJ bunt in the 1st, 1st and 3rd and 1 out, 1-0 NY. He laid it down perfectly to get the run in, a second run early against a guy as tough as Lugo is huge. It didn't even occur to me before he did it, the #5 hitter in the 1st inning but really well called and executed.

And then the Jones one in the 4th, 1st and 2nd and 1 out, he was bunting for a hit and he came very close, took a perfect barehand play to get him. But the runners still both moved over and with two outs both easily scored on Trevino's hit up the middle.

Does Stanton ever playing again depend on Soto’s throwing forearm feeling great?

That was Tonkin's first real save ever, the other one was 3.1 scoreless to close a 8-3 win for ATL against COL last year.

I don't know how much I write it here but I think it with every start, Rodon looks like he is in so so much better shape this year, much better even then his dominant 2021/22. I think he was one of the SPs most adversely impacted by the pitch clock in 2023 and he came back this year seemingly a different guy, he is back to the level NY hoped they were getting when they gave him that big deal.

Yeah, Jack Curry is saying the same thing now on my TV, heh...

Ha, thanks for looking that up. When they said he had a save last year, I immediately wondered if it was one of those BS "saves".

Glasnow and Lugo both very probable All-Stars as of now, two really really good wins.
