Moving the Line
Let’s put #1 at priority #1. Yankees haven’t dropped a series all year yet have lost each of each of their last four series openers. Good a chance as you’ll get tonight to right that ship.

Also a fun substitute to see if German has any kind of drop off from last start, or if he doesn’t. Hey, that’s why we play. Make a statement. Start and finish strong, and win.

Exciting lineup, Peraza has never played 3B in the minors or spring training (it's easy to give NY shit for not trying him at 3B this spring, but he was playing SS plus 2B for the first time):

1 SS Anthony Volpe
2 RF Aaron Judge
3 1B Anthony Rizzo
4 2B Gleyber Torres
5 DH DJ LeMahieu
6 3B Oswald Peraza
7 LF Oswaldo Cabrera
8 C Kyle Higashioka
9 CF Isiah Kiner-Falefa

Cabrera hits one 10 rows up into RF seats, oppo power I did not know he had from right side.

German got Guerrero and Chapman on 2 terrible pitches. Kind of misses a lot of spots, although that one to get Varsho was good

Kikiuchi is not throwing a ton of strikes with his 4 seamer. When he needs one he usually goes to his changeup

3 groundouts on middle-high changeups. NYY hitters not really looking for those for whatever reason

Terrible approach by Higashioka after being up 2-0 in the count. IFK also swings at a ball and gets lucky. I'm just not that impressed by Kikuchi... he's got CC Sabathia's 4 seamer and 60% of his chanegup and nothing else, including control.

DJ played yesterday, he just DHd. They are trying to get lefties in there today against Manoah, I guess.

Pinch hit RBI single from DJ wins it.

They Yankees aren't making things easy for themselves lately, but they're still (mostly) getting it done. Not too bad with so many injuries. The kids getting valuable experience is nice too.

I only watched the last few innings, nice job by Peraza/Volpe in the 8th and everyone in the 9th, huge play by IKF essentially stealing 3rd as EE noted.

Manoah 7 2 0 0 1 5
TOR bullpen 1 5 3 3 1 0

Again I missed most of this game, but gonna chalk up the first 7 innings to Manoah being great (and getting some very generous strike calls, when I was watching anyway).

Lot of hitters slumping lately, led by Judge. As he goes, so goes the team? I am surprised how much I miss seeing Stanton taking his hacks.

NY needs to call up Jake Bauers for the road trip and DFA Calhoun. Bauers hit two more HRs today in AAA, he has 8 in just 57 ABs, and a 1.339 OPS.

Sometimes when a guy is unsuccessful at the plate you can watch their swing and how they manage an AB and get the sense that they're about to turn the corner and start raking.

Calhoun is not that guy.

I don't even care who they replace him with, though Bauers sounds like a good call.

Get it done Cashman.

We need someone for the Twins series, anyone else want to get in the rotation who hasn't yet? If not, you're up, @Wingack .
