We are on first MLB hit watch for Anthony Volpe today as he faces Alex Cobb.

It's looking rainy out there today. But with the games being sped up maybe we will see teams hold off on postponing them.

I think they try to get this one in.

Should be a Fox game in NY metro and Bay Area and I’m guessing much of the country
(Rangers Philly the other one)

38 pitches for Cobb in the 1st, think if he doesn't get that 3-2 call against Gleyber, he might have been pulled.

Gets out of it but that was a 32 pitch 2nd, 50 pitches through 2.

Joe Davis asking about the 3-1 bunt hits last season is the best part of doing stats work live. It's like Pavlov's dog getting to see the bell, even before its stats-based tintinnabulation.

To clarify, not me, but that's a typical request in the day of my weird life. Lucky to get out of that scoreless, but today it's better that than good on both sides of the ball today.

Do you have to wear one of those radiation covers they give you at the dentist during x-rays to not get dumber via contact with Smoltz, even working remotely?

I wish! I had fun racing whomever did their stats. All of it is correct. Notably to me, none of those six came when the team was ahead in the game.

I do think working with Smoltz would a very, ahem, unique experience.

Two absolute bullshit calls in two ABs on pitches off the plate, he isn't giving that against any other hitter.

It really doesn’t make sense not to run if you are on first with two outs.
Depends who you are and the situation, but it does make more sense this year than previously certainly.

(If you are just repeating Smoltz's words to mock him, sorry)

Imagine being a Yankee fan and booing Giancarlo Stanton.

I wasn’t repeating him. It obviously depends a little. Not gonna run Trevino every time he is on with two outs. But most of the guys in this lineup should be running in that scenario to get in scoring position.

It’s a little bit hard to care about results when the umpiring is this bad, automated strike zone soon please.

Blaming that one on King and Holmes, but also Donaldson and Torres could have knocked out Cobb in the 1st but instead both struck out looking.

Also a bit of blame on the uninspired thread title. :)

I’ll take tomorrow, Brito’s MLB debut.

Nice to have the kind of speed and baserunning skills Volpe brings. He scored from second on Rizzo’s hit to left in 9th. Cuts the bags like the young kids do.

He should be leading off, but I guess he will be soon enough.

Volpe didn't have the best day defensively, although that knuckler at the end he broke the wrong way on was crazy, I guess that's what you get when you spin it like Michael King.

Peraza with 2 SBs in 2 games in AAA already, we're going to be running like the Orioles once he and Dominguez are in the lineup too.

That was King's first real game since going out for the season last July, so a bit more forgivable. Holmes, get a bad one out of the way early I guess.
