That is something. How did a 12-17 team get a 4th seed in the ivy??
Iviies tradionally schedule above their level in OOC play. They're not awful. They beat URI, took Loyola MD to OT, lost to UVM by only 1, lost to a top 20 USC team by only 11. And went 8-6 in-conference to earn the 4.

Refs absolutely bailing Purdue out here in OT. Giving Edey a Lebron whistle.

Purdue given the most blatantly favored officiating I've seen this season and they still can't get it done, because that's who they are.

Good luck playing outside of Big Ten officiating guys. And then you wonder why it happens to them in the tournament every year.

Yup. They don’t have the guards to do it.
I'm going to say something that you all might think is crazy here. But after Wisconsin went ahead with 5 seconds left, the Purdue guard (I don't know who these guys are) inbounded the ball to his teammate, who dribbled up the court. Two guys converged on him, and the guy who inbounded the ball was actually wide open for a return pass and would have had a pretty good, totally uncontested look to win the game. But no, the guy with the ball - who DID have time to make that pass - took it himself.

It felt a little hero-ball-ish to me.

I don’t think this is really fair. They played like shit today, but Purdue’s record this year outside of the Big 10 has been great. They have arguably the best non-conference record in the country, with wins over Tennessee, Alabama, Arizona, Marquette and Gonzaga.

Well it sure was a fair observation about the calls in today's game.

Number 30 on NC State is an absolute unit. He’s got some game!

Poor kid just may have lost Kent State the MAC championship by brain farting and fouling while up one with 6.2 seconds left. Ugh

DJ Burns? I’ve talked about him on multiple occasions. See post #49

There have only been 2 State players I ever liked, him and Googs

J. Billis being on every ACC game is so unnecessary.. he's brought up Duke about 10 times tonite for basically no reason. Unlistenable.

Hubert-coached team blew a 15 point lead in a natty and just lost to a terrible team that's been playing since Tuesday. Lots of questions remain about whether he's the guy or not.

Long Beach State fired their coach Monday - well they let him finish out the year/conf tourney. They’ve not lost since and now are tied with 10 minutes left in their conference title game to make the tourney.

Arizona and Iowa State are probably teams ranked 4 and 5. UNC 6 at best and probably joins Purdue in the Midwest at this point .

NC State winning 5 in 5 is arguably even more impressive than when UConn did it in 2011. Connecticut got a slightly easier ride as a 9 seed. Both teams got mostly chalk — Connecticut got to play a 3 instead of a 2. State went through 1 2 and 3 while Connecticut went through 1 3 and 4. Connecticut did beat 4 nationally ranked teams in a row in 4 days though.

I realize I'm biased, but the year UConn did that was also the year the Big East sent 11 teams to the tournament. The ACC was pretty weak this year (I think KenPom has them as the 6th best conference last time I checked). Granted, NC State at least had to knock off the best teams in the conference to get there.

Yeah I would still give the nod to UConn's run given all the nationally-ranked teams that they played. State played three unranked teams along the way.

Good for Dan Monson.
Most don't remember that he was the Gonzaga coach before Few.
Monson went on a magical run and was within 1 point of Connecticut in the regional final in 1999 late in the game. Monson used that as a springboard for a pay day, leaving Gonzaga after just 3 years. They were pretty mad in Spokane but it sure turned out ok. Few goes on to build one of the most improbable programs in the history of college basketball. He is probably a hall of famer. Connecticut did ok after that game too.

Yeah this is probably right. Connecticut also had to play a tough overtime game mixed in there. Both were amazing runs.

Been okay for Monson too, who has been a head coach continuously since 1997

It's definitely UConn. They beat teams ranked: 197, 31, 4, 13, and 14 (by KenPom). State beat teams ranked 200, 87, 8, 68, and 9.

Very impressive run from State. Let’s re-visit this if they rattle off six more wins

In consideration for "improbable runs while tired" also goes to the 2008 UGA team, who won the SEC tournament playing 3 games in two days. The first of which went to OT.
