    76ers: 2020-2021 thread

Simmons had another tentative game on offense but his steal of an unsuspecting Theis sealed the win. Shake Milton is a pure scorer off the bench who will be even more important when Seth Curry returns. Embiid’s conditioning seemed good tonight. If the refs want to send him to the line when he...

Seth Curry remains out tonight as he works on his conditioning. Mike Scott, too. https://www.inquirer.com/sixers/philadelphia-sixers-seth-curry-nba-boston-celtics-covid-19-pandemic-20210120.html

Just how good is/was Drew Brees?

Drew Brees threw 90 TD passes in three seasons at Purdue, back when Big Ten offenses were plodding along. Playing for Joe Tiller, he got the ball out fast in an innovative spread offense. That was more than 20 years ago. Gradually, the conference adjusted and started to catch up. Not there yet...

    Dustin Pedroia Retrospective

Did any infielder ever make more diving stops, bounce up and gun his throw to first? Pedey pissed me off at first, until I realized he was playing for all short people like myself. And how he could hammer that high fastball! Those are the two images that Pedey’s name conjures in my mind. I hope...

    2020-2021 Yankees Offseason Discussion

My two cents: I enjoy rooting for home-grown young players more than I do players, especially pitchers, who come in from elsewhere. I like to see a couple starting pitchers from the organization blossom. You always need a few outsiders and I accept that. Cole and Kluber are an elite 1-2 if the...

Gleyber is a pretty similar comp to Cano at this age. Robbie was a better all-around hitter but Gleyber hits with more power at a similar age. Both are thick-bodied with a tendency to gain weight. Robbie was the better fielder. Pretty amazing Yanks developed them both within 15 years of each...

Best Outdated Old Guy reference I can offer is the 1960 trade of Rocky Colavito (27) for Harvey Kuenn (30). Or, Bobby Murcer (28) for Barry Bonds (28) in 1975. Gleyber is much younger but in a way he is not a perfect young star, thanks to his glove and tendency to bulk up. Remember how he came...

Does he have a joke writer besides SNL? I mean, his delivery is great but does he write his commercials, too?

Speaking of funny, Rodgers has a great sense of humor and holds a huge edge over Brady in smug, condescending commercials.

Or Hank in his age 41 and 42 years in Milwaukee. We always have this perception of Willie Mays aging badly but he had an OPS of .907 at age 40. In terms of home runs, Hank kept up his production through his age 39 season while Willie tailed off at age 36. Back on topic, Brady is aging better...

Loved seeing video of Brady meeting with Brees in civilian clothes an hour or two after the game and then completing a TD pass to Drew’s oldest of three sons. Quite a human moment. And then Tom walking away, making sure to wave to each of the kids.

Jon, I think you are close on that analysis. Cincy just wants the right package. Give this a few days. Maybe it doesn’t happen in the end. But Cashman wants Castillo. Very few teams, if any, can give Cincy the package they could extract from NYY.
