    Mets Scandals

Huh. I was in freshman microeconomics with that guy in college. I'm guessing they might not cover this story in the alumni magazine.

MLB to launch league for Draft prospects

Dunno if any of you saw the Athletic's article, but it's...not good: Quotes for those behind a paywall (though I highly recommend a subscription!): So MiLB teams have to sign away their rights in order to obtain...

MLB to launch league for Draft prospects

There's something fitting about the fact that the 2018 series turned when Roberts pulled a cruising Rich Hill in game 4 and let the Sox back in the game. Now he wins a series when the opposing manager pulls a similar stunt.

Manfred: 16-team postseason likely to stay as “an overwhelming majority” of owners endorsed the concept before COVID

I still kind of hate the one-game playoff thing. It's fine as a division/WC tiebreaker when teams actually end up tied, but as a customary playoff format, there's something weird about it. It feels like skipping to game 7 without the buildup that makes a game 7 exciting, or skipping to a...

It never gets old - reflections on Oct 17-20, 2004

I was hopeful once Papi's homer landed at the end of game 4, because a.) I knew the Sox could make up a two-game deficit in the postseason with their backs against the wall, because they done exactly that in the 2003 ALDS against the A's, and b.) the Papi homer felt so much like Trot Nixon's...

2 doubles, a HR, and three outs - including a strikeout - in just 12 pitches. That's efficiency!

Most exciting plays in Red Sox history (for the Casual Fan)

I guess I'd put Brunansky's slide on the same level as the Victorino or Ortiz's home run, though I don't think either one holds a candle to The Steal or Fisk. But I'll throw it in for completeness.

Happy 7th anniversary to David Ortiz’s game tying ALCS grand slam!

Yes! My friend also pointed out that it's the 60th anniversary of Bill Mazeroski beating the Yankees with his game 7 walk-off home run (and still the only game 7 walk-off homer in World Series history). Clearly a good day for baseball!

Fun fact: the Marlins are just one game away from losing their first postseason series ever. They are currently 7-0 in postseason series.

    2020 Pats: Cam Tests Positive

Arthur Bryant's is still there. I went there (and to the Negro League Baseball Museum and the Jazz Museum) on the way back from Chicago in August. But don't sleep on Oklahoma Joe's either. (I guess their name is now just Joe's.) That's the third of the dueling three KC places, and I know...
