72 Suburbs in Search of a City: Anthony Davis to Los Angeles Lakers

Alright so we've got 238th in real +/- In the 400s in PIPM -5 Net RTG on the 2nd best regular season team in the league (by far the worst of any of the Lakers that played regularly) So he played ~10 mpg with Lebron, 12 without. With LeBron their net was +3 (not exactly good for a Bron...

72 Suburbs in Search of a City: Anthony Davis to Los Angeles Lakers

He is quite literally the worst player in the league that was getting significant minutes by a ton of metrics, period. Brian Windhorst would be a better defender. Smith won't be called on to defend PGs (he'd still be better than Rondo though by default, that is how bad Rondo is). That'll fall...

Losing Rondo helps their ability to defend point guards.

    Rethinking Barstool?

This is pretty much where I'm at, it sucks for Tyler but Portnoy basically used them as a prop in his campaign of being uncancellable.

January 2020 General NBA Game Thread

Gobert got roasted by Finney-Smith and Doncic several times late in the 4th and fucked up a rotation that led to a 3 to give the Mavs the lead, but cool he made that one play I guess.

I mean, you can clearly see Gentry and Ball try calling for timeout when Ingram gets the rebound and get ignored. Gentry says in the same presser he didn't get an explanation for that.

December 2019 General NBA Game Thread

Analytics darling (top 10 of all players in defensive impact by some metrics), great help defender, puts up a big highlight play every couple games, and he looks like an accountant. Make no mistake, he is a GOOD player but him being good has just taken him being a meme from last year to new levels.

    November General NBA Game Thread

There are only 12 teams in the league with winning records (including themselves, who they can't play). So they're almost exactly at the average proportion of teams played with winning records.

Bill Simmons: Valuing Trades More Than Friendships

I don't think there's any way it wasn't significantly along by then. That pod was recorded mid-September, we know the Kerr podcast was recorded early October. Not sure how long it'd take with all the planning to get this going but it certainly was on the way by then. Agreed that the Shaq...

    The Ringer

Was really hoping that Andrew Sharp would land there, doesn't seem like that'll be happening now. Not disappointed by more NBA coverage though of course.

Bill Simmons: Valuing Trades More Than Friendships

I'm shocked nobody has mentioned his Pos level Joe Paterno defense "he probably doesn't even know what the word sodomy means!"

For further context, his big "hits" were Horford to the Sixers and the 4 teams in the AD trade weeks before
