2 on 2 out, 1 run lead for the Cubs in the 8th. Routine fly to RF should be inning over with the Cubs winning. But Suzuki just misses it and 2 runs come in and Braves are up 1 now in the 8th.
That was indeed a straight up, Little League, whiff. You don't see that very often.Good lord Suzuki just whiffed a routine fly ball to quite possibly wreck the Cubs season.

This happened 09/23/1998 after the Cubs had a 7-0 lead in the game; they were up 6-0 tonight.

Great story about Francona in the Athletic:Francona is not being fired but sure looks like he is retiring.
Bases loaded for the M’s now.Julio up.Yordan Alvarez just murderlized a Bryce Miller pitch to dead center.
Edit: Miller then surrendered two singles followed by a Dubon HR. Stros pulling away.
And Julio upBases loaded for the M’s now.Julio up.
I wonder if it's some bad blood from the night before. On Tuesday Chas McCormick went full A-Rod on a play at first and then got absolutely drilled in the back with a 99MPH heater and it looks like he wasn't in the lineup last night although I don't know if that was the reason for him being out.Benches clear in Seattle. No idea why Neris taunted Julio Rodriguez after striking him out. Very weird moment.
I had no idea, but apparently there has been bad feelings between Neris and Rodriguez since the middle of last year.I wonder if it's some bad blood from the night before. The McCormick incident and drilling surely only added to the bad blood between the teams too. There is history between the two teams, with Neris and Rodríguez specifically. Let’s go back to June 6, 2022, when the Astros hosted the Mariners. After Neris hit Ty France with a pitch, players and coaches in both teams’ dugouts began yelling at each other. It wasn’t long before they converged at home plate in a benches-clearing dispute.
After order was restored, Rodríguez sent a 2-1 Neris fastball to the opposite field for a two-run home run, padding the Mariners’ lead to 7-4 in the top of the ninth. As he rounded the bases, Rodríguez shouted and pounded his chest in celebration. It looked a lot like the taunting Neris was doing in Wednesday’s game.
Neris and perhaps the entire Astros team have been harboring this grudge for at least 16 months.
Back, sure, but also looks like a kidney shot. Ouch.I wonder if it's some bad blood from the night before. Yeah, that's gotta hurt. He'll probably think twice before slapping at the first baseman's mitt again.Back, sure, but also looks like a kidney shot. Ouch.
Honestly there are only two teams in each league that are actually good, then a whole lot of mediocrity behind them. The Cubs are falling apart.
Can you imagine the other umps on that crew who have to work with him every day?
This would be chaosThis Marlins/Mets rain delay coming with the Marlins taking the lead in the 9th, being the last game of the season between the two clubs with no off days remaining, brings up the extremely rare possibility of applying OBR 7.02(b)(4)(A), with the score reverting to 1-0 Mets in 8.
