Amen. Time for a fresh start without baggageAs much as I like Cora, I hope that they intend to let Bloom hire his own manager.
Perhaps something happened this morning that made the decision easy for Boston, one that wasn’t going to be made today but made and announced this next week.Seriously, media relations doesn't have to be this difficult. We know of nothing happening that would have forced the team to botch this announcement. If it had to be today, do it with class by Bloom in person/on Zoom, and so the players could properly send him off in person. Why was this timing/handling necessary, like they just decided to do this 10 minutes ago?

This organization continues to fall all over themselves. Such a classless look. Have some dignity.Seriously, media relations doesn't have to be this difficult. Pretty strong sentiment based on one tweet by Pete Abraham. This organization continues to fall all over themselves. Such a classless look. Have some dignity.
But was this REALLY necessary before the last game of the season?Pretty strong sentiment based on one tweet by Pete Abraham.
That's my point, we don't know. But was this REALLY necessary before the last game of the season?
Doubt this would be Bloom's guy given lack of managerial experience, but wonder if Tek would at least get an interview? So, apart from Cora, who are some names we might see connected to the Sox? I have no idea who some up and coming managers may be.
Agreed. The separation looked PR-driven in the face of some gale winds. Now that they've subsided, there never really was any diminishing of respect between Cora and the Red Sox, so a reunion isn't out of the question. Frankly, I think he's proven himself to be a better manager than anyone we could hire, at least, anyone without substantial risk attached. Hiring him is the low-risk move - even if having Mookie and the 2018 roster would make anyone look good, he got absolutely everything possible out of that team and then managed borderline Tito-esque in the playoffs. That is hard to replace.I’m all for Cora coming back. He has a great relationship with Devers, his role in the Astros scandal has been shown to be greatly overblown, and the players like and respect him.
This can’t be the way they planned it.But was this REALLY necessary before the last game of the season?
Dude's a self-admitted cheater, across two clubs. . .but a very affable one, no doubt.Agreed. The separation looked PR-driven in the face of some gale winds. That is the price of genius.Dude's a self-admitted cheater, across two clubs. . .but a very affable one, no doubt.
Yeah, I mean...maybe Cora IS Bloom's guy.Sure you can say Bloom should hire his guy, but if Cora were a FA with out any baggage I’d bet he would be number on a guy like Blooms list.
This is a tough situation for me. The Astros situation was extreme, Cora played a role, and regardless if he was hung out to dry or not, was involved in a really bad situation. The stuff with the Red Sox though was nothing that every team in MLB wasn’t doing, and I think that has been wildly overblown “spygate” style. Either way, he paid the price with his suspension and lost wages.Dude's a self-admitted cheater, across two clubs. . .but a very affable one, no doubt.
The Sox can and should someone else.
Are we really considering the Red Sox’ communication with the video replay room in 2018 to be cheating or have I forgotten some infraction involving Cora prior to banging the can slowly in Houston? If we are really considering the Red Sox’ communication with the video replay room to be cheating, the organization will have to go outside of Major League Baseball to find a candidate that adheres to such pure and pristine standards.Dude's a self-admitted cheater, across two clubs. . .but a very affable one, no doubt.

edit - verb dropping.
Matt Quatraro or Brady Williams are the obvious choicesI also will be 100% fine with Chaim picking some unknown Tampa coach who will undoubtedly make a great manager.
I'm sure all the members of the 2017 Dodgers, who were completely pissed about the Astros sign stealing hear the name "Alex Cora" and just sigh and gently melt and say. . ."Well, except for Alex Cora, of course!"With all that said, there is nobody in MLB that doesn’t like and respect Cora, and clearly his managerial skills and player interpersonal skills are elite.
Yes. Point taken. The Dodgers likely hate him. More broadly speaking, he has always been very well liked by everyone. I doubt that has changed much. He’s a good guy and a great manager who made some shitty decisions was my point.I'm sure all the members of the 2017 Dodgers, who were completely pissed about the Astros sign stealing hear the name "Alex Cora" and just sigh and gently melt and say. . ."Well, except for Alex Cora, of course!"
Only if he agrees to manage the Red Sox as Braddy Williams. Balance must be restored.Matt Quatraro or Brady Williams are the obvious choices
The Astros, with Cora, cheated an entire season and in the world series itself. The next year he did something similar with the Sox, casting a shadow on their magnificent 2018 season. I'm sure we can find someone who didn't manage to stick his foot quite so deeply in it, and smear it all over the lobby. Are we really considering the Red Sox’ communication with the video replay room in 2018 to be cheating or have I forgotten some infraction involving Cora prior to banging the can slowly in Houston? I am assuming he is an observant Jew based on previous reports and Yom Kippur is coming up.Bloom to address media soon, per TC.
It’s a huge turnoff. This organization continues to fall all over themselves. Such a classless look. Have some dignity.
Yes, this was actually the decent way to do it. Roenicke wasn't just the Manager for this screwy season, he was the Bench Coach on the historic 2018 team. Let him say goodbye and enjoy his swan song.Doing it before the game gives him a chance to say goodbye to everyone in person.
