Every team in baseball would be interested........ and the Sox would be last on HIS list given the way things ended with them.If the Indians lose tonight, Tito might be available.

Cora has pretty extensive international managing experience I believe. I think he’s clearly the guy.Depends on who the replacement is. I'm sure plenty of people thought kicking Tito to the curb was a great move after 2011.
So who are the candidates? I see Cora's name a lot, but he's inexperienced. Not sure you want to put a first time manager in charge of this club. How many of the playoff teams this year brought in a first time manager? None, as far as I can tell. That's probably not a coincidence.
Same goes for Tek, who is even less experienced than Cora.
Ausmus shouldn't be considered. He seems like an awful fit and doesn't really have a rep as a quality manager at this point. Tito didn't either, but at least he bought into the organization's philosophy. Ausmus has publicly stated he's not into advanced stats.
I guess Cora is the best option, even without any experience as an actual manager. Of course, rumors are that the Yankees will also be looking for a new manager this winter, and Cora gets tossed around there a lot as well.
I hope they don't look back in a year and regret this. I just don't see an obvious upgrade right now.
Why before end of Series? There's some good candidates that may not be available until then.Just for God's sake, get a good manager and get him fast. Say...before the world series ends.
The Dodgers (Roberts) and D-Backs (Lovullo)So who are the candidates? I see Cora's name a lot, but he's inexperienced. Not sure you want to put a first time manager in charge of this club. Or before, that's fine. But don't announce it until after, otherwise, a very MFY and Arod move
What are you basing this on?It’s going to be Ausmus
If it’s Ausmus, I may just stop watching for a few years. It’s going to be Ausmus
Wouldn't surprise me, he fits what in my head DD looks for in a manager. It’s going to be Ausmus
This is going back a few years but I thought Burch Hobson was ejected from a game in Baltimore in 1994 and then the strike hit...so they never resumed the season. Hobson was fired before the 1995 season began. Can anyone think of another instance where a manager was ejected from the game and then never returned to manage the team again?
Because I want a god-damned coaching staff in place before fucking January. I don't want to sit around and get the fucking dregs of the coaching world. Why before end of Series? There's some good candidates that may not be available until then.
I hope you have a broad definition of "busy off-season." We have eight position players in place, a full rotation, a bunch of guys at the back end of the bullpen. This is probably the first move in a busy offseason. I did not like Farrell as a manager but he clearly isn’t the main reason why this team underperformed.
Managers hired by Dombrowski:If DD hires Ausmus they deserve to finish last.
We're going to trade guys to JD Martinez' agent?Give J. D. Martinez's agent a list of 3 or 4 names and let J.D. choose.
I've actually wondered if he's headed to the YankeesSpeaking of wildcard candidates, if the new Marlins GM brings in his own choice of manager .... would Dombrowski consider Mattingly? No vote of confidence yet from Jeter, so anything is possible.
I'll piggyback off of this just to say my piece. Farrell was unjustly killed around here for managing by the book, the same book Tito uses as well. He was well spoken, protected his players, tough when needed and by all accounts worked alongside the SABR wing of the FO. Someone here recently wrote that when Farrell is gone DD will take his place on the hot seat and I wholeheartedly agree. Given that it's DD's neck on the line now he's going to stick to his type and his type is fucking horrific. Enjoy it, folks.Managers hired by Dombrowski:
Buck Rodgers
Rene Lachemann
Jim Leyland
Alan Trammell
Jim "I don't like computers. Period. I don't even know how to turn one on" Leyland
Brad "I'm not a sabermetrician" Ausmus
He certainly has a type. People hoping for someone better than Farrell, I have a feeling you're going to be pretty disappointed.
Saracsm. I think it very unlikely that Tito will be available, short of him placing bets on NYY, regardless of the outcome.Every team in baseball would be interested........ and the Sox would be last on HIS list given the way things ended with them.
Of course it depends on who they replace him with, but Farrell was not a good manager. The fact that he led a team people thought would win the division to win the division is great, but too many times over the years he has looked really bad.Depends on who the replacement is. I'm sure plenty of people thought kicking Tito to the curb was a great move after 2011.

He made more "head scratching" moves in a week than Farrell did in a month. This is just ignorance on my part, but what are the main complaints with Ausmus (besides the fact that he was just the manager of the worst team in baseball). I get his approach is more "old-school," but how does that affect decisions on the field? More bunting?
OTOH--Farrell has a much bigger head.He made more "head scratching" moves in a week than Farrell did in a month.
I was all aboard the Fire Farrell train but after reading this list I am very scared for what the future holds....Managers hired by Dombrowski:

I agree, DD has a type. What I'm hoping is that they hire a young, relatively unexperienced manager, like Cora, and then hire a somewhat experienced manager that is DD's type for bench coach.Given that it's DD's neck on the line now he's going to stick to his type and his type is fucking horrific. Enjoy it, folks.
So no to Cora? Dave Martinez?Because I want a god-damned coaching staff in place before fucking January. I don't want to sit around and get the fucking dregs of the coaching world.
What does this even mean and can you provide examples?tough when needed
