Agree with everything but calling winning two division titles "superficial." The team has performed decently the last two years -- but not exceptionally.Ownership and DD saw a problem and didn't let superficial achievements cloud their view of substantive problems with the team. Good on them.
This is the right move for a young team.
If the Indians lose tonight, Tito might be available.go get someone that can relate to the kids like Tito...Alex Cora?
93 wins each time, which most years might get the WC.Agree with everything but calling winning two division titles "superficial." The team has performed decently the last two years -- but not exceptionally.
Wondering what else we may hear about now that he's gone.
Does he keep his job in 2014 if he didn't get ill?Pete AbrahamVerified account @PeteAbe 1m1 minute ago
Farrell finished last two years in a row and survived. He then won the AL East two years in a row and was fired.
Yeah I highly doubt that.If the Indians lose tonight, Tito might be available.
Also had two teams in 2016 and 2017 that faded badly in September93 wins each time, which most years might get the WC.
Two division titles got them 1-6 in the playoffs. In the end they didn't matter. Kudos to DD for recognizing that fact.
There is no way Cleveland is letting him go. He's got a job for life there. If the Indians lose tonight, Tito might be available.
wouldn't that be great?!If the Indians lose tonight, Tito might be available.
It's almost as if it has nothing to do with how the team finished at all.Pete AbrahamVerified account @PeteAbe 1m1 minute ago

Not only this but I don't think he'd ever come back given how the organization treated him on the way out the door. There is no way Cleveland is letting him go. He's got a job for life there.
Nope.Does he keep his job in 2014 if he didn't get ill?
But don't announce it until after, otherwise, a very MFY and Arod moveJust for God's sake, get a good manager and get him fast. Say...before the world series ends.
Ausmus is the one move that could cause regression. Fast. I appreciate what Farrell did in 2013 in righting the ship but the time has come. Good on DD to see that.I have no problem with Farrell being fired. The team did not play well enough in the postseason and he had many moves that really called his job into question. However, if the end game is Brad Ausmus then that's the wrong move.
Depends on who the replacement is. I'm sure plenty of people thought kicking Tito to the curb was a great move after 2011.Thank you DD. Great move IMO.
You are probably talking about finishing the season 2-4. The september record in 2017 was 17-10. Some would call 6 games small sample size. Or what did you mean? Also had two teams in 2016 and 2017 that faded badly in September
The phrasing may be because he is staying on in the organization in another role, or perhaps he was asked to continue as manager under certain conditions {some coaches fired?} and he declined. Also, it says he won't return: not fired. Any chance this was a mutual decision?
