Lucchino will be gone, Cherington will be gone. If Allard Baird survives this transition, then I don't even know what, just... I mean that is the spot that most needs upgrading, surely Dombrowski will take care of business there and get someone good in, right?
Cherington did a great job with the farm system and won a title. But the big contracts almost all look really bad right now. Of course, ownership had to give approval on the biggest ones, and Cherington's director of player personnel surely gave the thumbs up on them too. You just can't afford to miss on a lot of big money long term contracts, and the Red Sox have missed on a lot of them over the last 5 years.
