Castillo has the excuse of a long time away from baseball. Cespedes is far from a rookieToeKneeArmAss said:No one pays Cespedes to think. That much is obvious. Sadly I see the same lack of baseball instincts in Castillo.
You're obviously too young to remember 1986.MakMan44 said:Man, even if I wasn't pulling for the Mets I'd still feel bad for Mets fans after tonight

You're assuming he survives until Monday. He may not make it.cheekydave said:Beningo is going to be a fun listen monday!
He ran like it was going to hit the ground. There's no in-between there, you either run or you don't. That's a tough read.CoffeeNerdness said:He ran like that was a sure hit. That was not a tough read.
Hiding from his bookie, he took the Mets.Luis Taint said:What happened to Pete Rose?

Unlike Cespedes, Castillo seems willing to learn, as evidenced by how well he played the wallMonstahsInLeft said:

OK, those of us that saw it won't feel sorry for any Mets fans.MakMan44 said:Wasn't even born, my friend.
Murphy is basically out of the play if it hits the ground, though, so he has no downside in waiting. Cespedes can play a role to break up the double play, though it would unlikely have any impact anyway. I think he should have held, but it's a lot to process there.CoffeeNerdness said:
I see what you're saying, but I disagree. The play is right in front of him as is the lead runner. I'll have to watch it again, but it looked basically like Murphy froze.

Can't say I blame you, but I can't even process how I'd react if that same exact play had happened to the Sox.Al Zarilla said:OK, those of us that saw it won't feel sorry for any Mets fans.
My guess is you would be here 29 years later laughing at the Mets, like I am.MakMan44 said:Can't say I blame you, but I can't even process how I'd react if that same exact play had happened to the Sox.
The ball getting past SS in the 9th scared me, since it woke up the crowd.Norm Siebern said:Amen to that. Screw 'em.
Lots of them are children. We complain about baseball losing its young fans, but Citi Field was full of them tonight. Anyway those kids don't remember 1986 either.Al Zarilla said:OK, those of us that saw it won't feel sorry for any Mets fans.
