When you look at all the Giants reclamation projects  - I believe it was nattysez who made a point in one of these threads about how Javier Lopez and even Ramon Ramirez performed well when they came to San Francisco  - and those include Vogelsong who was good until recently and Petit who was almost out of baseball, you have to name Dave Righetti as one of, if not the best pitching coach in the game.

Al, if Petit has "electric stuff", what if it rains? Also, what would you use to quantify "electric stuff"?
Why, rain would short out his electric stuff, of course. Quantify? How about Ergs, or Joules?  What do you have?

I won't say he's not very good but If Dave Righetti could do it in Colorado I'd be much more impressed.

Just reminded of the lost scouting report on Pence:
"Runs like a rotary phone thrown into a clothes dryer. Throws like an effete Frenchman throwing a bookcase uphill. Swings a bar like his elbows are stapled to his knees and his underwear is pulled over his head. Stares at you while you aren't looking.

So, maybe the KC pitching coach is another Righetti?

Eiland was pretty good with the Yankees too, and only lost the job due to some personal issues (alcohol problems or something IIRC).

Yeah, why play the IF half way there? There is no double play possibility, and, other than a one hop atom ball to short or second, Panik is going to score on a grounder. Yostian move?
