My guess would be because it's NL rules and you don't typically want to bunt with the pitcher coming up. But Guthrie actually can hit a little.

During the Angels series, Yost said that Perez was one of the few guys on the team who can't get a bunt down.
True, but Panik and Pedroia both have a little toreador in their backhand short-hop pickup.Savin Hillbilly said:He's leaning the wrong way as the play begins. Pedroia makes that play without even having to slide.

Stuff like this has been going on forever. Have a team with speed? Don't cut the infield grass as short, etc.soxhop411 said:“@PeteAbe: The grounds crew here cleaning up the over-watered infield between innings. Sloppy track surely aimed at KC base-stealers.”

I'm guessing they think it humanizes the whole thing and that it appeals to women so that they'll be thinking of themselves in her place. Maybe that works for the incredibly casual women fans who might accidentally be in the audience but I can only imagine the women of SoSh, Cheri, Foxinsox, Clemente38 and others rolling their eyes at it.mauidano said:What is the fascination with Kim Hudson?
