The XFL providing the world with important information. Jerry Glanville is still alive and coaching!
Speaking of which, what do you think of the similarity of the Roughnecks’ logo to the old Houston Oilers’ logo? I would think the Titans make enough incidental use of the latter to retain trademark rights.Another thing, and it's an important consideration if you're a connoisseur of dead leagues like the AAFC, WFL, USFL, WLAF, CFL expansion, XFL1, UFL, FXFL, AAF etc.
I like the uniforms.
It's kind of a poor copy of it, which is a shame. It's definitely one case where the franchise's old logo and colors should have been left in the city when they moved. The Tennessee franchise could have had literally any color scheme and nickname they wanted. The Oilers oil-rig logo and baby-blue and red uniforms were all-time classics. It's really too bad that they're not around any more. Both the Titans and Houston Texans are anyonymous crap.Speaking of which, what do you think of the similarity of the Roughnecks’ logo to the old Houston Oilers’ logo? Cardale Jones has been terrific. Better than the guys you mentioned, I think. As other pundits have written, the XFL needs to find some QBs FAST. I find the rules and pace of the game fairly fun and interesting, but holy crap is it ever a major chore for most of these teams to put a drive together. PJ Walker is fun to watch, and I like Ta’amu’s athleticism, but all the other QBs are awful. Matt McGloin actually made me angry watching him yesterday he was such a butcher.
it shouldn’t be this hard to put up points.
Not the intended use for the rule, but yes, two forward passes on the same play are legal, so long as the first pass is completed behind the line of scrimmage, and the second is also thrown from behind the line of scrimmage. Conceptually, it's very difficult to defend, but also difficult to actually work.I just saw Landry Jones legally throw two forward passes for Dallas on the same play. The first pass was batted back to him by a defender behind the line of scrimmage, so he threw another, and it was caught for a first down - which is completely legal in the XFL, apparently.
I was thinking the same thing about the Oilers logo....having this XFL Houston team run the "run and shoot" offense with those old Oilers uniforms would be classic. It's kind of a poor copy of it, which is a shame. So for a knockoff league to do something similar.... meh. It's a poor copy, but they're doing it because people miss the original.
Think back on the best Oilers teams - the Dan Pastorini/Earl Campbell teams. Never could quite get past the Steelers in the AFC Central.I was thinking the same thing about the Oilers logo....having this XFL Houston team run the "run and shoot" offense with those old Oilers uniforms would be classic.
That got me back to thinking how much those early 1990s Oilers underachieved...blowing a 3 score lead to Denver in 1991 divisional round, which gets overshadowed by the 5 score lead they blew to the Bills a year later....then blew a 10-0 lead at home to the Chiefs in the 1993 divisional round.
