Lynch gave the most level headed even keeled post game comments after the Super Bowl about winning or losing as a team and that a whole game is not actually decided by one play be issue of all the other plays before hand. His "anger" about not getting the ball is seemingly a complete media fabrication.
In other words, "Tom Jackson, ladies and gentlemen"

where I was last at
I mean, yeah, that's the conventional wisdom, but that game last night is proof that there are no guarantees out there. Even if Big Ben is banged up he may be healthier than Manning and the in-game injuries, shitty officiating, and injuries cause massive swings.
But all things being equal (injuries, bad calls) getting a banged up Ben and a concussed all-world receiver, with a so/so defense is a better draw than KC, a team on a role, with a solid D, and a team that already outplayed Denver twice this year, and should have beaten them twice.

Sure the Maclin thing hurts (is he definately out?) but, I'm sticking with Denver was the big winner last night

and fuck them.

Dan Patrick just said that Jeremy Lane didn't return until week 12 from his broken arm in the SB. Based on the replays/stills I saw of the injury at the time, that makes sense. Ugly, ugly injury b
The amazing part was he also blew out his ACL on that injury.

The bottom line on last nights drama is Cinci choked. Physically, mentally, emotionally and massively so. Yes, the fumble. But the completely unnecessary head & shoulder chip on a defenseless receiver compounded by swallowing the bait of an epic troll job by Porter just defined this Bengal program.

And what a job by Porter. The jackass walks completely away from Brown and the rest of the Steeler staff into a huddle full of Bengals- while the were trying to plead their way out of (arguably) the dumbest play/penalty of the game to an NFL zebra- and gets them to totally lose their shit. I don't think he will mind the fine at all.

I don't understand why Porter doesn't get a offsetting penalty, since a) he was on the field illegally and b) he deliberately provoked crazy PacMan. The refs let Porter win the game.

Has it been revealed what PacMan was flagged for? I have heard bumping an official but the videos that have been shown don't show that....
I really hope that something happened that we haven't seen yet because if the officials really decided the game on throwing a flag for shit talking that is pathetic.
What you're missing is that Jones, when he leapt to point at Porter, did indeed bump into officials who were in between them. You can actually see the refs stumble after the contact. If that happens while the initial scrum is ongoing, there's a possibility that it doesn't get called. But it happened after things had cooled for a bit, so Jones's leap looked more like a flare-up than a spontaneous reaction. It's proof of the adage about the reaction always being caught.

Porter knew what he was doing. Burfict had been removed from the scene at that point, so he directed his trash-talk to the one guy he knew would be as out-of control. The funny thing is, before the Jones moment you could see Bengals players talking to officials and indicating that they thought something was going to be called against Pittsburgh. Whatever that was disappeared after Jones tried to get at Porter

The next time Denver gets a call against them (or doesn't get a call for them) in a critical spot at home will be the first time.

Coaches are allowed on the field during time outs.

Yelling at other players isn't generally a penalty. Pacman was penalized for touching on official.

Here
Lynch isn't upset about the end of the SB, he just doesn't want to take abuse anymore on the field. Listening to him at the end of last season, it really seemed like he wanted to retire, but got an offer he couldn't refuse. He was as tough as they come for a long time, but I think he has nearly given up mentally.

Al Michaels strikes me as a straight shooter and not all network hack He might make mention of it.
I think one of the interesting outcomes of #DFG and the Al Jazeera story is that some pretty respected PBP guys and commentators like Nantz and Collinsworth are starting to feel the heat. Somewhere along the line they stopped working for their networks and started working for the League itself. That may seem obvious to some but guys like Michaels and Nantz have largely made their reputations on having a pseudo-journalist approach to their craft.

In other words, the NFL ruins everything they touch.

That's certainly true of Michaels---I have always seen Nantz as the successor to the Brent Musberger "league PR schill" crown, though. Am I forgetting some examples otherwise (quite possible)?
