Absolutely. I feel so bad for Whitecloud. They have GOT to get rid of that penalty. It's the second worst thing about the NHL right now.
I’m rooting hard for Dallas.Dobby to the SCF.
Reddit seems to be saying he's got some sort of wrist or hand injury that he's playing through.Seguin has been excellent IMO. He's missing it at the offensive end, no doubt, but he's been a 200 foot player and working his sack off. I wouldn't be surprised if he's got an UBI...
All of the above and I would be happy for Pavelski and Jamie Benn, they are gamers.I’m rooting hard for Dallas.
1. Because Dobby is a good dude.
2. Because F Tampa
3. Because I want Seguin to win one so that the Bruins remind themselves of how dumb a trade that was the next time they even think about trading someone that young and talented.
Sorry, I wasn't arguing that they got the better end of those deals. Just pointing out that they kind of just rolled on and there was very little long term impact. They were back in the playoffs 3 years after trading Thornton and won the Presidents Trophy in the next season. After dealing Seguin the Bruins have won 2 Presidents trophy's and been to a Cup. I don't think the Seguin trade was the complete catalyst for the 2 years they missed the playoffs after trading him. They went all in on the 13/14 team and had to deal with the cap ramifications afterwards. The 2 years they missed the playoffs they had 95 and 96 points too so it's not like they completely bottomed out.The Bruins certainly didn't get better from those deals, as they made the classic "trading a horse for three ponies" type of trade. Missed the playoffs the two years after they traded Thornton with losing records, and only one of the players they got for him did a damn thing in getting the Bruins back to respectability (Sturm), although Stuart did bring back Ference later. The Thornton trade also cost Mike O'Connell his job.
After trading Seguin they went from Stanley Cup Finalist, to second round losers (blowing a 3-1 lead in the process to MON, what an awful series that was), to two straight years of missing the playoffs.
I wouldn't call them immune at all. Both trades hurt the team short term. Longer term they overcame their mistakes but longer term means the impact lessens as the years go by.
They damn sure didn't get better from those deals.
I was shocked at this too and him killing penalties. Clearly not 2013 Seguin.Honestly the biggest sign of Seguin's maturity is his willingess to block shots and contribute even when his offensive game isn't working. I nearly fell off my couch a few times hearing the announcers say "Blocked shot by Seguin." 2013 Seguin would never have done that.
