Here
Wonder how many times in NFL history a team has thrown four times from
The one and failed in a non-time pressure situation.

What we don’t know is what the conversion rate would be if teams went for it every time. I think it might drop if teams are just forced to run regular offensive plays 50 times a year instead of pulling out special plays.

Also, the value of a point is relative. Situation makes a difference. The obvious example is that a point to go from a three point lead to a four point lead is dramatically more valuable than the fifth point is if late in the game.
I completely agree that context matters. And again, Pederson is an outlier here but they appear to have a method to their madness.

So much for that.
An opportunity missed. A three and out was not in the cards. Green Bay's defense is not looking good tonight.
To give up a soul crushing 99-yard drive.
There is little reason for the Eagles to do anything but run the ball on every down and mix in play action fakes. As someone pointed out upthread the Packers run defense sucks.

Must be so frustrating to be a defensive lineman against Rodgers. It’s like the coyote and road runner all night.

Pats would’ve quicksnapped the ball a long time ago. Idiotic not to, just to ensure no challenge flag has any potential to be thrown.

Eagles should just commit DPI in the end zone. Packers probably won’t score from the one but if they do you have plenty of time to kick a field goal.

so there's a guy that looks seriously injured and the nfl says lols we're still gonna charge a time out. that's a garbage rule they should be better at.

It was put in for the reason before like fletcher cox “faked” one to get a timeout and stop quick play so philly could decide whether to challenge the play without Green Bay getting s play off.

And we aren’t going to make our refs guess and open liability.

and the team comes into the field to check on their teammate who isn't moving and the ref waves them off. good christ this league is shit.

so you think without the rule, they'll just "fake" to the point of this? honest question.

Packers must have a Rodgers scramble run they can dig out if they get inside the 5. Hell, QB sneak if they get to the one, although that’s Tom’s famous play, not Aaron’s.

Wait until the protector of the shield introduces actual robots into game play. The only player anyone will recognize is Jason Witten.

this is an edge case of course.

But the rule is hard and fast for a reason. It didn’t used to exist. Can you tell a player jumping up and down on one leg is injured or not? Can you tell if a guy that just went down without being touched just blew out his knee or not?

No you can’t. And teams were intentionally faking injuries. Including the pats to get free timeouts or slow down fast paced teams.

So you appeal that for PI, obviously?

* or I guess not. I truly don't understand how the NFL works.

That looked so familiar!

Same situation too. Belichick chose not to call time out to ensure Seattle would have to throw at least once and the Eagles by not having a time out got the same thing.

Other than the maiming and the bullshit calls and the delays and the fact that these guys will all be drooling into bibs in ten years and all that this was a great game.

I need to learn to stop betting on Rodgers. Every time Ive needed him to come through I’ve gotten burned.

Throwing blindly into double coverage on an inside slant from the one yard line with the game on the line. Anytime someone tries to tell you Rodger is the GOAT, show them that clip.

I think Rodgers is a fantastic QB but he is not the GOAT. While Favre didn't do much for A-Aron early in his career, its clear that Rodgers still had some of QB4's habits rub off on him. Rodgers loves to throw into tight windows and not even a discount double check is going to save him when it doesn't work.

Some of his skills are so unique that it’s deceptive. Or I guess we’re unique until Mahomes. Like his ability to throw on the run is just so crazy impressive that you can forget about some of his issues.
