I love Bill, but he’ll be 72 and I understand not wanting to rebuild with a guy that age.
Yeah this. This season was a fucking mess, he’s the guy who put the roster together and coached them every week.

I hate the way it ended for him here, but I’m fine with them moving on. Seems like it is time.

I think he's gone. RKK has been silent. It's a terrible, gross mistake. But, I'd bet a lot he's gone.
It's sad, but I wouldn't call it a "gross mistake". Even if Bill was a solution in rebuilding the team, he'll be long gone by the time the *next generation* of players are in a winning position. And not great for Bill selfishly either, it would take many years to reach Shula at this rate.

I think it's a mistake to fire him but it's gross the way RKK is treating him. BB should get the second (third?) most credit for raising the value of the franchise and deserved better than total public silence and anonymous leaks by ownership.

I’d like to give Bill one more season, but I certainly understand why one would want to move on. I don’t think getting rid of him is some kind of shameful decision. It’s been 5 season since he was last really good at the personnel part of the job.

Anonymous leaks have been RKK’s favorite kind, apparently.

Yeah, BB deserved much better than that.

If the plan is to move on then wouldn’t silence be the best approach?

And who knows what leaks have occurred and where they’ve come from.

How? He didn’t draft Mac Jones, or completely mismanage the QB situation. If he actually does fire him, I give him credit for being willing to eat the $25 million. Organization needs a reset.
I’m never going to blame him for drafting Mac Jones - it was seen as a steal at the time and for most of his rookie year. You know whose fault Mac Jones’ failure to develop as a pro QB was? Mac Jones. He went backwards from about the three quarter mark of that first year. He threw his coaching staff under the bus last year, did absolutely nothing to show growth this year and leaves (I hope) with the stench of failure all around him. Nothing is more disappointing than unrealised potential.

Just watched the game at a sports bar next Wrigley, as I'm trapped in Chicago due to the weather in New England. I buried a long-time friend here yesterday, and this game only deepened my melancholy. The only consolation from the afternoon was the Jags losing so my late friend's Steelers clinched a playoff spot; with the Pats in purgatory they're my sentimental AFC favorite at this point. You know things are bat for the Pats when the Jets fan at the table next to you doesn't even gloat (maybe that would've been different if we were in NY).

Anyway, if that was it for Bill in Foxboro I'm grateful for everything. What a run.

Belichick named Matt Patricia his offensive coach during his 2nd season. Come on.

Great post game press conference with Slater who is likely done after 16 years and the last remaining player with links to the first part of the dynasty.

Hell, will anyone be left with links to the second part of it?

I don't have the snap count breakdown, but I believe Boutte got a mention on the broadcast yesterday as a "defender" on the second (?) Jets INT.
