I feel like we will learn that Hurst is playing with broken ribs or something. Dude is getting destroyed.

Pats/Giants is going to be such an important tankathon game, just like the NFL drew it up.

The NFL football product has been downright awful this year. Has there been a really good entertaining, well-played game this year by both teams? I remember a lot of stinkers. Giants-Jets stands out as one of the worst games played.

Yet, it is beautiful and thrilling and NFL Sundays are the best sports days of the year.

I will say the Pats/Bills game was a lot of fun (as a Pats fan). The Eagles game (second half) also entertaining. The rest....not so much

they have been good for many laughs, that's for sure.
And a whole bunch of WTFs to go along with the laughs.
It's better to be disastrous than middling.

The games have been funny. I mean, it hurts to lose and that is lame. But it has been funny to watch Mac throw up pop balls to bad WRs who can't keep their feet in bounds.

Injuries to QBs and bad offensive line play has been an issue this season. Add in the usual sloppy officiating, and the result is a lot of bad football.

Offense is down for many reasons, but to me Patrick Mahomes being saddled with a bottom 3 WR corps and a banged up Kelce in the same season Brady has retired and Rodgers tore his achilles plays a huge part in it. Those guys must have thrown for a combined 330 TDs and 40k yards the past three seasons. Too many rookies and backup QBs, too many injuries (if Burrow had been 100% since the start of the season he'd probably be leading the MVP race instead of having middle of the pack stats, for instance), a whole lot of cover two, bad OL...

Yeah what it comes down to is that the quarterbacking is probably at its worst point in a while. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s we had multiple iconic, Hall of Fame guys at the position.

Obviously Mahomes is one of those guys, and we all think very highly of Burrow as well. But who is the 3rd best QB in the league? Josh Allen? And then who... Herbert? For all of his skills, he has not accomplished a thing in the league and his numbers aren't even all that great. Ditto Lawrence. And from there it's a very quick decline IMO. How many teams even have what you would consider their long term solution at QB? Like 8?

Miami
Buffalo
Ravens
Bengals
Jags
Texans
Chiefs
Eagles? I'm not sold on Hurts

Like... that's the list.

If this isn’t sarcasm then I agree.

There really isn’t anything more entertaining than flipping on Red Zone at 1pm and immersing oneself in football for 6 1/2 hours.

We all know the officiating stinks. And the quality of play varies wildly. But the sheer amount of off-the-charts athleticism is a wonder to behold. IMHO, of course.

Call me crazy but I expect pro football players to be good. The variation in ability between Mahomes and a Devito or even a Mac Jones seems more than the distance between Gerrit Cole and low A pitchers. The bad QBs are just incompetent and it ruins my watching experience. Even teams with good QBs like the Chargers and Bills suck. The NFL product is bad and perhaps I am more biased this year because I am watching this atrocious Pats team. NFL offenses are only as good as their weakest links and most offenses are bad because the QBs stink, the line play is awful, a lot of good WRs are hurt, and the offensive coaching is poor (the Steelers are a shining example).

Doesn't help that while I love guys like Lawrence and Lamar, they don't necessarily light up the score board and the stat sheet. Right now the high efficiency/high volume guys are basically Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert and Allen (yes, he's still highly efficient even with all the turnovers). At some point the league had Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Ryan, Favre, Eli, Warner all playing productive football in the same time frame, and at worst one or two of those guys will miss the hall of fame.

It is not sarcasm.

NFL Sundays are the best sports days of the year.

In May of 2020, I was watching athletes playing John Madden on Xbox. Compared to that, I'll just be happy there are 18 weeks a year of wall to wall NFL action.

Complaining about matchups is nonsense. Even the worst games are amazing. Last week, Houston v. Tampa and Minnesota v. Atlanta are two PRIME examples. Nobody gave a crap about those games. And they were classics, down to literally the last plays.

OK, then we're in violent agreement, as they say.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room. What has the Mac-lead 2-7 Pats done to the SOSH BBTL product? I for one believe a good tanking can be healthy. Then again I 'm still here.

Deshuan has been negative in fantasy points three times this season.

He is a great starter. Just killing the team every week.

Purdy just threw a TD pass that had INT written all over it. Then I remembered that Mac doesn't play for SF

Purdy threw that off the back foot too. Exactly the kind of throw you do not ever want to make. But hey it worked out.

The cable feed for the Packers-Steelers game is not quite right; there is a strange buffering effect I am seeing with any player movement. Anyone else having an issue?

And it definitely isn’t the result of a hallucinogen.

It was wonky through my AppleTV Spectrum app, so I switched over to the Spectrum cable box and it is working.
