How many times in the last three plus years have they had the ball with a chance to win or tie? Fumbles and turnovers on downs every time.
[/QUOTE]
That’s virtually every game in the NFL. Good teams / quarterbacks find a way.

How many times do we need to see another failed fourth quarter comeback drive before Mac starts to get some of the blame?

To be clear, I don’t think he played badly, but he has shown an inability to make the big play/drive when it counts. One or two games you can chalk that up to other players/luck/coaching but at a certain point you just have to execute.
He made a 4th and 12 throw! That was an easy catch for a NFL WR.

I blame that phantom holding penalty on Henry. Changed that drive and the game going forward. Obviously you need to overcome one call but it out them behind the rest of the way.

I think they were the better team tonight easily for about 50 minutes. I would've felt a lot happier with this result before the game than after actually watching it. Just blew repeated chances to pull it off.
Agreed. It’s frustrating that we can’t seem to pull these games out. But there’s reason for optimism.

The Mac hate here is truly a head scratcher. This is year 3. Good rookie season, Patricia was an awful OC last season. This is week 1 against an Eagles team that made the Super Bowl last year.

Some real strange takes here. Coaching decisions cost them this one.

he just made a huge throw on 4th and another of bb’s fantastic wr picks duffed up the play

Mac played great today? Seriously?

Every big possession, he took sacks. Any kid who plays Madden knows to throw the ball away and not get sacked. He is absolute garbage. 15-20 other QBs in the league win this fame

If you look exclusively at the poorer throws and ignore the 300 of passing yards, 3 TDs, and key drops, you can put this loss squarely on Mac Jones.
phew. I was about to respond and realized my
I think his very good games have looked a lot better than this, but okay.
Yes I know you do. That’s why I’m not in these game threads. Mac haters see what they want to.

I'd guess because it seems there are a lot of throws a pro QB needs to make and so far he hasn't made them. He throws a lot of ducks and lollipops when a fucking dart is required
He throws like late career Peyton without the preternatural anticipation. That being said he made some nice throws today, just not enough of them and Boutte let him down on the last one

Probably the most encouraged I've been by a Mac performance since his rookie year. He's not perfect, his arm is pretty weak, he makes some subpar decisions and some slow decisions, but he did everything he needed to to give the Pats a chance to win. They just fell a little short.

Because too many Pats fans have only watched Tom Brady for the last 20 years.

The Venn diagram of people that shit on Mac after every incompletion and people that only watch highlights of other games and Pats games is a circle.
This is absurd. I’m not a Mac hater, but he’s easily one of the worst 3-4 QBs in the AFC and at this point he is what he is, I don’t see a ton of room for improvement there.

He was without his best 2 OL and WR1.

Do you seriously think Mac has gotten no blame over the past three years?

Christ almighty, if "he was fine" in a game where he averaged 5.8 yards per attempt and scored 20 points starting at their 40+ yard line repeatedly is being a "Mac hater" I fear you may have developed a parasocial relationship with the kid. Just relax.

Agreed but it’s predictable. This was also the crew that was calling for Zappe when Patricia was commuting malpractice.

A 6th round pick getting open in his rookie year is not a bad pick...god people love to shit on BB for the stupidest things.

BB probably cost them the game and you are complaining about a 6th round wr playing and contributing.

I’m both annoyed, and relatively optimistic.

The defense is legit, a ton of speed and good tacklers.

I think Mac was pretty good, but you need to scheme around his lack of zip. I think BoB is capable of doing that, will obviously take some more time though.

Boutte needs to run endless sideline drills, but I like that he was able to run crisp routes create real separation.

Bourne and Henry were really good.

Boutte will be the WR1 by mid season.

You can hope it was because it was the first 3 drives of the year.
In pouring rain.

How did Joe Burrow look today in the rain? Watson?

Did folks around here see Justin Herbert's drive with 1:45 and down by 2 today against Miami? He took 2 sacks in 5 plays.

Maybe those teams should dump those guys.

Mac was good today. The TEs are good but the receivers are just mediocre and it shows when they really need a play.
Bourne played well, but no other receiver helped Mac. Juju looked super slow to me as well, everyone was selling his YAC ability at the time of the signing and I felt like he had zero burst and went down at the slightest contact every time he caught the ball.

The need to force Elliot into the action at the expense of Rhamondre felt cutesy. Rhamondre may have had some lingering effects from the illness but he was clearly healthy enough to do Rham things.

Overall, I'm pleased. The defense looks fun and the offense was leagues better than 2022. Now we know why Boutte fell to the sixth tho. Ugh.

So tell me, what did you think of Jalen Hurts today? Justin Herbert? Mahomes on Thursday? Joe Burrow? DeShaun Watson?

Because Mac outplayed all of them today.

Mac showed plenty of fight, but he also showed his physical limitations and had a few head scratchers. This was another chance to win a close, competitive game and he got close but could not seal it. Let's hope the Eagles are as good as advertised and the Pats can beat the lesser teams.

For about 80% of the game. But that 20%at the beginning of the first quarter and the FG drives after the half hurt.
The defense essentially gave up 12 points to one of the best offenses in the league and the offense gave up 13 and scored 20. This was a complete fail by the offense. Had the ball multiple times late with a chance to take the lead and never did, which seems to be a staple for the post Brady pats. I cannot put any of what happened today on the defense.

If it’s close and late and you need a play from the offense. I have would have no confidence in them.

Yet, you're completely ignoring the fact that they could have put up much better numbers if Boutte gets his fucking feet down for over 30 yards of completions, JuJu doesn't drop an easy one, Bourne doesn't drop one on third and 13, and Hunter Henry isn't called for a phantom hold on a 2nd and 9 run that was a first down?

But yeah, let's blame Mac for all of those drives stalling out.
