“He’ll goddamn well tweet what I tell him to tweet!”View: https://mobile.twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/1420882832075984896
Hey Jon, can you please stop tweeting the exact same thing with the order of the words slightly changed? Thanks.
Heh contention next year. Cute. But no. From a local minnesotan, its not happening especially with the white Sox. Their pitching sucks, the have no bullpen beside Duffy or Taylor. The rest of the batting order is in shambles. They have to rebuild. I'm surprised they haven't sold of more .They don’t need to which is why the price is reportedly through the roof. He’s under control through next year and the twins are aiming to contend next year.
Apparently the ask from the Mets was an MLB’er and two out of their top 6 prospects.
I’ll break shit.Typical Yankees. Britton and Chapman are shaky as hell these days so they add more power hitters(?). Crazy although I know they needed lefties. BUT if they swoop in and grab Kimbrel I’ll be pissed.
Just be sure to wash your hands well afterwards.I’ll break shit.
In bleach.Just be sure to wash your hands well afterwards.
If they're getting Kimbrel too, why not get him as part of the Rizzo deal?Typical Yankees. Britton and Chapman are shaky as hell these days so they add more power hitters(?). Crazy although I know they needed lefties. BUT if they swoop in and grab Kimbrel I’ll be pissed.
This. The time frame for the Franchy experiment doesn't exist. I was hoping to see him given a shot soon after the AS break.I don't necessarily think this is wrong, but speaking personally, I'd rather not let the deadline come and go without playing it safe. Plugging holes with modest upgrades has worked for this team in championship seasons of the past, and I'd hate to push all of our chips on the notion that 1B will somehow figure itself out. Again, I don't think what you're suggesting is outside of the realm of possibility, but I'd rather not spend the rest of the season seeing what we've got in Franchy while the Rays peck away at our tenuous division lead.
Me? I'll be enjoying watching Kimbrel murder Yankee fans by walking the bases loaded night after night as Jasson Dominguez becomes the prize of the Cubs' system.I’ll break shit.
Perhaps one of their priorities was to screw us out of getting Rizzo. Maybe they will do Kimbrel as a seperate deal.If they're getting Kimbrel too, why not get him as part of the Rizzo deal?
You got whatever this is Tito.
That sucks. Finishes with a 50-49 record for this year. So 17 straight winning seasons for Francona. None of them in Philadelphia.
Mitch could be traded, but compared to Jeffers and Astudillo to replace him they would be left with garbage. 46 games is a small sample wise but he shows some promise.Think Minnesota would listen on Mitch Garver? Under control through 2023 but already 30 years old. Primarily a catcher but has played some first base.
238/357/569 this year in limited action.
253/340/499 in his career.
Maybe they have Kimbrell locked down.Wait, someone explain this to me. You add Nellie Cruz but subtract Diego for presumably prospects?
OK we know so who are we trading the entire SeaDogs roster for?Maybe he’s waiting for EdRo’s start to pull some triggers.
Well said. The absolute bare minimum without being negligent is a 1B Pickup.
I didn't like Rizzo as an option at all. He hasn't had a very good season and there are better players available.
We still have Cron, Agiular, Schwarber, Bryant, Schoop and, G. Cooper.
About a million options. Most better than Rizzo. Chaim will get the deal he wants for hopefully a pretty cheap price.
The Sox have a very legitimate, high percentage, chance at a WS run.
I'm ok with selling a bit to boost those odds. I really wish we had gotten Scherzer. I'd be disappointed if we didn't add one more impact piece on top of a 1B upgrade.
It could take the form of a Berrios, Kimbrel, or even a weird move like a Story or a T. Turner where you just take the next best bat available and make people change up their regular position.
Beyond all.. I trust Chaim to make the optimal move to make a small bet while keeping the long-term plan in place.
While the bullpen has been shaky lately , run scoring has been their issue all year.Typical Yankees. Britton and Chapman are shaky as hell these days so they add more power hitters(?). Crazy although I know they needed lefties. BUT if they swoop in and grab Kimbrel I’ll be pissed.
The Sox are fairly flexible so with some guys that's not an issue. If you bring in another shortstop he better be able to man 2nd base, because X ain't moving.I'm ok with selling a bit to boost those odds. I really wish we had gotten Scherzer. Cooper's out for the yearWe still have Cron, Agiular, Schwarber, Bryant, Schoop and, G. Cooper.
Yeah but it’d be quite the tale. How did Trevor story even get in this conversation? We don't need him.
I'm just making a point. I'm not postulating that it is anything but a .001% potential outcome. How did Trevor story even get in this conversation? We don't need him.
Kind of wild that we have a 2.5 game lead on the Rays. This team was definitely sprinkled with some of that 2013 magic dust. While the bullpen has been shaky lately , run scoring has been their issue all year.
Runs for/against
Redsox 519/450
Rays 512/409
Yankees 415/421
Sox and NY meet only six more times in the regular season. Hopefully that's it. At most, Eovaldi will start twice against them, perhaps none at all.I'm not mad the Red Sox missed out on Rizzo but the Yankees getting two plus Left handed bats doesn't bode well for the Sox in head to head matchups. Eovaldi has dominated them but now, who knows?
Cooper is out for the season. Cron is likely heading to the IL with a groin strain. Schwarber is still on the IL, although he is likely back within weeks. With that said, I agree about Rizzo, and I would also like to see a 1B upgrade. EDIT: sorry, I see most of this was covered while I was typing. We still have Cron, Agiular, Schwarber, Bryant, Schoop and, G. Cooper.
Cron keeps getting mentioned here, is there any update on the groin injury that forced him out of last night's game?
This is starting to remind me of that scene from Rocky, where Apollo is scrambling to find an opponent after that one guy broke his hand.Cooper's out for the year
Anybody replacing Xander or devers is a waste of discussion.I'm just making a point. I'm not postulating that it is anything but a .001% potential outcome.
I think you can remove "if".Do we need to get another pitcher if Erod has imploded?
An insurance policy would be nice.Do we need to get another pitcher if Erod has imploded?
We needed another pitcher before ERod imploded.Do we need to get another pitcher if Erod has imploded?
You and I seem to be the only ones wanting Aguilar. I wonder if there's any possibility of that, or does Jeter not have any interest in helping the Red Sox?I know Bryant's played some 1B. If he's decent there his flexibility would be an amazing addition. There's not been a lot of talk about him. Still not my first choice, but would be a good get.
The Red Sox have 4 starting pitchers that aren't all that reliable.Do we need to get another pitcher if Erod has imploded?
Chaim is going to surprise you. Rays org people are out of the box thinkers.Anybody replacing Xander or devers is a waste of discussion.
This is why I was really hoping for Scherzer. IF Sale comes back and is the “old” Sale, him and Scherzer would make an incredible 1-2 and then you really just need 1 of Eovaldi/Erod/etc to pitch well in the postseason. The Red Sox have 4 starting pitchers that aren't all that reliable.
