These are rumors and they are flowing out of lockerrooms at trade deadlines. We should be viewing them with a high degree of skepticism given all the differing agendas around the team and the league.Wow. Time to ship his ass out.

The Pistons broke the rule and it continued from there. Although Kareem won a few titles at the end of his career where he maybe wasn't elite.Moses Malone was an elite 5.
Those damn Kardashians would have destroyed even AC Green if they were around back then. Makes sense about TT as he arrived out of shape and after competing for championships with LeBron probably hates being around a young young up and comers while not competing for a Title. I can see Smsrt being the emotional type like this because well......he’s an emotional competitor. I don’t really see this as anything more than a temporary bad thing which in the end is a good thing that one of your better players is so passsionate and competitive. On the Ringer podcast today, KOC and Chris Vernon are talking about the Celtics. Vernon was at the game last night and says they don't have team chemistry or togetherness at all. Vernon has heard that Marcus Smart is a problem right now because of the trade rumors surrounding him. He thinks he's getting traded and it has affected him being totally engaged night in and night out. Another thing he's heard is that Tristan Thompson is a huge issue in the locker room. He is "resented" in the locker room because he won't stop going out partying which is breaking COVID protocols. He says Thompson does not want to play. KOC says he's heard the same thing on TT.
If it's true, no team would take him. They should try to void his contract but good luck.Wow. Time to ship his ass out.
The chemistry stuff makes sense, that's apparent watching them for any amount of time.
Oh I misunderstood. Of course he was. I thought they meant an elite starting five. Of course those days of needing a top five center are long long gone.Moses Malone was an elite 5.
Yeah, even this is only a rumor, it's not helping the C's, because it can only hurt Thompson's trade value. If it's true, no team would take him. They should try to void his contract but good luck.
Which could also explain why Lebron took the first train out of town. The curse of Kyrie continues.
I'm kidding, of course, but it is interesting that IF THIS TT RUMOR IS TRUE you have two prominent players from that Cavs team which are clubhouse cancers, while at the same time - Lebron seems to be quite the opposite.
So we’d play Utah or the Clippers instead if Harden, Durant, Giannis and Embiid all miss two weeks when they play us? I don’t expect Ainge to be a seller as there is significant value to the owners to make the playoffs and maybe even win a round.......but we aren’t winning no damn Championship this year. That's one reason you don't give up on this season though. It could be decided by LeBron having to sit 14 days in the playoffs.
Yeah, could even lose the play in game and make the lottery. So we’d play Utah or the Clippers instead if Harden, Durant, Giannis and Embiid all miss two weeks when they play us? Sure, but NBA trades are *mostly* about one team getting player they want and other team simply getting matching salary. There's likely not many teams out there that think TT is the missing piece, but there are some that will deal for him assuming they are getting other assets.Yeah, even this is only a rumor, it's not helping the C's, because it can only hurt Thompson's trade value.
And they didn't win it until they got him. In the 80s, the teams that won the titles were:Moses Malone was an elite 5.
Chances are neither win one. This is my obligatory reminder that Tatum is 23 and Brown is 24.
Jordan didn't win his first title til age 27.
Steph didn't win his first title til age 25.
Durant didn't win his first title til age 28.
LeBron didn't win his first title til age 27.
Giannis is 26 and hasn't won one yet.
Harden is 31 and hasn't won one yet.
There's still TONS of time for Tatum and Brown to grow and mature before it's reasonable to expect them to win a title.
I'd agree that the odds are against it. Because...drum roll please.....it's REALLY hard to win an NBA title, and most players - even a lot of the all-time greats - never win one.Chances are neither win one.
That was my point. The odds are stacked against them and they aren't in that great of a position going forward anyway.I'd agree that the odds are against it. Because...drum roll please.....it's REALLY hard to win an NBA title, and most players - even a lot of the all-time greats - never win one.
I mean, off the top of my head, these all-time greats never won one: Ewing, Barkley, Stockton, Malone, Drexler, Mullin, Nash. The first six of those guys were on the '92 Dream Team.
The difference is that Tatum is highly likely to be good enough to be recruited to a super team if that team is not Boston. That didn't happen to many of the stars of the '80's and '90's. So his odds of a title are likely better than 50/50. Brown has admittedly a tougher slog. That was my point. The odds are stacked against them and they aren't in that great of a position going forward anyway.
Ok, so odds are neither win a title and that if they do, it won't even be in Boston. The difference is that Tatum is highly likely to be good enough to be recruited to a super team if that team is not Boston. Odds are better than that; Tatum's are clearly better than 50/50, but that's just opinion, so whatever.Ok, so odds are neither win a title and that if they do, it won't even be in Boston.
The NBA, gotta love it! Yet for some reason, I do.
Point taken, but as a nitpick, Drexler won in '95 with Houston.I'd agree that the odds are against it. Because...drum roll please.....it's REALLY hard to win an NBA title, and most players - even a lot of the all-time greats - never win one.

You think Tatum has a 50% chance of winning a title?Odds are better than that; Tatum's are clearly better than 50/50, but that's just opinion, so whatever.
If they don't win one in Boston, the rebuild will the job of Ainge's successor.
Oh I forgot about that!Point taken, but as a nitpick, Drexler won in '95 with Houston.
Still considerably less than 50%.Boston’s cap clears up in two years when they will still have the JayCrew under contract. I’m betting their odds go up considerably then.
Giannis doesn't even have a 50/50 chance at a title. You think Tatum has a 50% chance of winning a title?
Where do you put Giannis?
Edwards might be a SG in a PGs body but Kemba and Waters aren't tweeners. I don't disagree with you about drafting small players though.Seems to be more "smoke" this year then in the past. I'm hoping Ainge does something to improve the team.
Another thing I wish he would do is stop drafting/trading for small players or tweeners. You keep hearing about how Danny/Brad love position less basketball but Edwards, Waters, Walker, and GWilliams always look so small out there against bigger opponents.
He's text book tweener/positionless player. The only other player on the C's I'd qualify as a tweener/positionless is Semi.GWilliams from a size perspective could have been, and still may be, a player that fits the positionless basketball perspective. He's supposed to be very strong, so should be able to be able to match up to some degree with 4s and 5s in some circumstances. The challenge has been so far has been his leaden feet. That could get better with training/coaching/etc. - or it may never.
Is Semi really a tweener? He has quick feet and makes sense at the 3/4. His problem is more “being good at stuff” than it is size. He's text book tweener/positionless player. The only other player on the C's I'd qualify as a tweener/positionless is Semi.
We really need another player.
I see the case for moving TT, but it's mostly about next year cap issues. After the slow start he's been good when on the floor, and he offers things Theis in particular does not in terms of rebounding in particular.Getting TT out of here would be addition by subtraction in my view.
Not sure if you're reading wrong or it's an error, but NBA has them at 8 minutes played together.Am I reading b-ref correctly in that Walker/Smart/Brown/Tatum/Thompson 5 man lineup has played zero minutes together this season?
