Sounds like Cespedes for Wheeler. I'm not even gonna say it (although that would seem like a lot from the Mets perspective).
I haven't heard Wheeler. That would be an insanely good return.

So the Padres still haven't made a single move? Talk about cutting it close, wow.

Wheeler not part of the Cespedes deal.

That's what they are saying on BBTN but agree it sounds like way too much.

No, they were speculating ... not saying that that was the deal

The Padres/Preller are insane, that team is rapidly turning into the Sacramento Kings of MLB.

The Yankees not getting any pitching is surprising, but Cashman must like his internal options and thought that the asking prices were too high. They did evidently offer Mateo for Kimbrel, but in the end it seems that talking to SD was just a waste of everyone's time.

I think Cespedes is a great deal for the Mets.  Basically gives them the offense they would have acquired via Bruce while keeping the entire 2016 starting 5 of:

Harvey
DeGrom
Syndergaard
Wheeler
Matz

That is so nasty.  I hope that rotation sticks.

^^Idiots.

Lots of minor deals:
JA Happ went to the Pirates
The Padres and Indians have agreed to a minor swap that will send lefty reliever Marc Rzepczynski to San Diego for outfielder Abraham Almonte
The Rangers have acquired reliever Sam Dyson from the Marlins in exchange for catcher Tomas Telis and lefty Cody Edge
Cubs Acquire Tommy Hunter For Junior Lake
Pirates, Dodgers Swap Jose Tabata, Michael Morse

The Rangers managed to go from 2 pretty decent catching prospects to zero in a couple of days.  And it's not like their catchers are youngsters either (both 31),  I figured Telis was staying after they dealt Alfaro.

Another team that makes me scratch my head...

yankees were willing to put in jorge mateo and take back gyorko and eat a good part of it to get kimbrel. pads said no.

Yankees are 5th in the league with relief innings (i.e. - 5th fewest starter innings)

Kansas City and Texas are admittedly worse. LAA and Houston are markedly better. Toronto in between.

KC gets Cueto
Texas gets Hamels
Toronto gets Price

(Even the Astors get Kazmir)

Tell me how the Yankees are going to keep this pace up for another 2 months without destroying their bullpen...

and the conventional wisdom in Yankee-land is "they're 7 games up, no moves needed."

That was certainly not the 'conventional wisdom in Yankee-land', they tried to make moves but thought the prices were too high and didn't think it was worth mortgaging the future, so instead are going to give Severino a much-deserved shot as he's been dominating AAA.

And actually the Padres saved them from being too aggressive IMO, giving up Mateo and taking on Gyorko's albatross contract to obtain Kimbrel would have been a bad move in the long term.

We'll see whether TOR ends up regretting moving Daniel Norris the way I'm sure they regret moving Noah Syndergaard.
