Yes please. Though I'd be pretty surprised if Korkmaz slips to 16 and Murray to the second round.
I screwed that one up, Chriss not Bender at 3.

Also new Tankathon:
3- Murray
16- Davis
23- Zizic
31- Johnson
35- Siakam
45- Zipser
51- Hammons
58- Layman

I've seen such wildly varying reports on Chriss. From "Shawn Kemp with range" to, basically "will never be anything but bench filler due to his utter lack of defensive awareness". He has as high a ceiling as anyone, but the fact that he rebounds worse than the 6'5 and unathletic Denzel Valentine is a tad worrying.

I saw Chad Ford mention that an anonymous GM told him that the Lakers should take him at #2.*

*The anonymous GM then added, "They should also trade D'Angelo Russell for James Young. And while I'm totally NOT Danny Ainge, I think he's really smart and handsome."

Hardaway was hyped as the next Magic Johnson, and this was well before the draft. He was a BFD his entire season before being drafted. Shaq had nothing to do with his rise.

Blue Chips was filmed after he was drafted.

Correct on Penny being a well known entity prior to Blue Chips however they completed a good portion of the production of the movie PRIOR to the draft.

The meeting with said anonymous GM was reported to have been held a Chipotle.

A Lost Time
The show made it seem like Shaq had a significant amount of Pull. At least for the early 1990s. Today many of us wouldnt give that kind of clout for a young Superstar a second thought. Yes he was young and coming off his rookie season, but everyone knew he was the real deal. Plus Ownership was new. He had improved the Magic 20 games in his first season and the show went to great lengths describing how he WAS Orlando's entire sports scene those first couple years.

The Program was vague enough to make you think that the Magic would have been happy with Hardaway and 3 1s regardless of Shaqs preference. To me the show reinforced the idea that this worked out perfect for everyone involved.

Check it out. I saw it on Netflix. The Magic Moment.

Nick Andersons collapse at the foul line (and subsequently his career FT shooting) was one of the most interesting things in the program. Talk about the Yips!

The show specifically said that there was a big workout for Hardaway in which he played in a game at the practice facility. Penny said that he thought of it as absolutely crucial to crash it and it did. The Magic executives were leaning towards Weber initially and the public favored Weber, but they were swayed by the type of play they saw during those workouts.

The impression I got from the doc was that Shaq provided a valuable reference, but Penny sealed the deal with his performance on the workouts.

The frustrating part about the draft is that I am following the ups and downs leading up to it, always very excited to see which spot we land and which player we take.... only to have to wait 3-5 years to see how things pan out.

Man I really hope Givony has a bad grip on the Celtics because:
3- Chriss
16- Richardson
23- Valentine
31- Johnson (brice)
35- Maker
45- Hammons
51- Layman
58- Bolomby

That makes me want to vomit.

The Maine Red Claws would be fired up by that draft.

Curious that they have Chriss at 11 in their prospect rankings, but going to us at 3 in their mock. Do they think Danny is that enamored with him, even though they think he's not that good?
I sure hope not. Seems to me that Chriss is going to take four years just to figure out how to stay on the court for extended periods of time.

Yeah, I'm not impressed by Chriss at all. Not a good rebounder at all, inconsistent motor. Seems like they are trying to force a stretch 4 fit with this kid. Too big of a risk with the third overall pick.

I think it is in Boston's best interest for there to be multiple rumors about who they'll take at #3. That maximizes the chances of someone ponying up for the pick.

I've gone on record several times in the past to note how Nbadraft.com is completely full of shit and this mock doesn't do anything to disprove that. They should have known that I shut down workouts last week after I received a promise in the 40's.

Welp Givony has dropped Chriss to 4,
3- Dunn
16- Davis
Rest of the picks the same.

Sporting News:
3- Chriss
16- Diallo
23- Luwawu

CBS (Parrish):
3- Murray
16- Zizic
23- Maker
31- Qi
35- Jones
45- Zagorac
51- Hammons
58- Carter

Interesting second round, really dislike the 3 and 23 picks.

My preference (using only players Parrish has available at that pick)
3- Bender (2nd choice Brown)
16- Zizic (Baldwin, Zubac)
23- Hernangomez (DIallo,Onuaku)
31- Onuaku (Qi, McCaw)
35- Beasley (Zagorac, Yabusele, PapaGiannis)
45- Yabusele (Zagorac, Papagiannis, Felder)
51- Papagiannis (Finney-Smith, Carter)
58- Carter (Finney-Smith, Payton)

Ford 9.0

3. Boston Celtics (via Nets) Jaylen Brown Cal Freshman Forward

The draft really starts to get interesting at No. 3, and Boston has everyone on edge.

The Celtics continue to explore every option. While the ideal scenario has them packaging this pick along with other assets and landing a superstar, so far they are coming up empty. That's not to say they won't get a deal. Teams tend to get more serious in trade talks 72 hours before the draft. As of right now, the Celtics don't have a deal they like.

If they keep the pick, I think it's safe to say the Celtics have it down to four (or maybe five) options -- Brown, Dunn, Chriss and Jamal Murray. Dragan Bender, who works out for the Celtics on Tuesday, might have a shot as well.

Brown and Chriss are the upside picks. Both are tempting to the Celtics for what they could eventually become. They are elite athletes who are still figuring out their game.

Dunn and Murray are ready to contribute immediately. While Dunn doesn't necessarily fit a need, he would right away be the best point guard they've had on the roster since Rajon Rondo. Murray's shooting makes him an ideal fit, though his defensive issues give Boston pause.

We had Dunn here on our last mock and he's still a very strong contender. However, he has refused to work out for Boston, and while it's not a deal breaker for the Celtics, Brown's terrific workout in Boston seems to have swung the momentum his direction.

He has one of the highest ceilings of any player in this draft. If he hits it, the Celtics would finally have their star.
16. Boston Celtics (via Mavericks) Deyonta Davis Michigan State Freshman Forward

The Celtics will be intrigued by several of the international prospects on the board. They definitely don't want to keep all their draft picks, but I think they'll have a hard time passing on Davis if he's on the board.

He has some elite physical tools and could become a terrific defender. The Celtics will have to be patient with him, but he's great value here.
23. Boston Celtics Cheick Diallo Kansas Freshman Forward

Diallo didn't really do much at Kansas last season, but that won't stop a team like the Celtics from grabbing him -- especially after his strong play at the NBA combine.

He is tough and athletic, and he might have the best motor in the draft. He's raw. But had he stayed in school another season, he probably would have been a lottery pick next year. That makes him good value here and potentially a starter on the Maine Red Claws.

What is this 'motor' everyone keeps talking about? It seems to be very slippery in usage. Is it end-to-end speed? Acceleration in the defense-to-offense transition? Motivation to keep playing hard all the time?

I think it's a combination of activity on the offensive/defensive boards, weakside rim protection and ability/willingness to run the floor, screen/rolls and dives to the hoop. I compare him to Tristan Thompson.

Is Simmons still really plugged in with the Celtics FO? Most people don't even have them looking at Chriss anymore

He may be "plugged in" but he is pretty much the same as anyone on this board. He doesn't reach out to sources inside of teams like a Chad Ford or the Draft Express people do. How could he? They guy is a little busy...

I don't see any reason to believe anything anyone is reporting. Hasn't Ainge done a pretty good job keeping his deals and draft intentions out of the media historically?

I'm fairly certain Simmons' buddy Sully, who he's mentioned in the past, is his Celtics source. Sully (Shawn Sullivan) works in the marketing dept for the team, so while I'm sure he gets more info than most, I'm guessing Danny isn't spilling his secrets to guys working in marketing. And after reading yesterday about how the decision making group for the C's front office is about 5 guys deep and Ainge keeps his thoughts away from them, I'm pretty sure Sully isn't getting the scoop.

Also just for kicks, SI's final mock has Brown, Prince, and either Zizac or Zubac. http://www.si.com/nba/2016/06/23/nba-mock-draft-trades-buzz-ben-simmons-dragan-bender-brandon-ingram?xid=IFT-Trending

If anyone is interested, the Daily Californian makes a case that Jaylen Brown should be picked over Ingram: http://www.dailycal.org/2016/06/22/jaylen-browns-case-to-be-picked-2nd/. One fact of note: Brown hit 39% from 3P land in high school so maybe he's a better shooter than his freshman stats show.

I picked a bad week to stop sniffing glue.
