Holy shit - that was one of the best MMA fights I've ever seen.

Is there any doubt on Jones Gus II?

Two competitors, Jones knows he almost got his ass beat tonight. I tell ya what, I've got a TON of respect for Gustafsson. Athletic, gutsy, yet humble and positive after what has to be a tough loss.

This is just a display of the sport at its purest. What a fight.

I saw it. And wow. That fight really could've gone either way.  I had AG winning the first two rounds and Jones the last two, with the third a real toss up.  The judge who had it 49-46 should go out to pasture with the boxing judge who had Canelo and Floyd in a draw.

It's hard to tell whether Jones found his Frazier tonight or somebody just laid out the blueprint on how to beat him.  It's not like the Silva fight where he came in juking and got caught before he knew he was in a war.  Jones had 4 rounds to adjust when he saw Gustafsson was there to stay and really couldn't get anything going until the Swede starting fading.  I assume all the judges gave the last round to Jones, so if Gustafsson had his hands moving instead of on his hips in the 5th he could've been walking out with the belt.  And, of course, conditioning is the easiest thing to fix.

According to ESPN, Jones left the arena in a stretcher.  Again, like Ali-Frazier.

I think we all saw him limping badly after the fight. The toe could still be bothering him but a stretcher?

I dunno about that.  There seem to be reasonable cases to be made for 3-2 in either direction.  I'm also a big believer that titles shouldn't change hands on a decision unless it's fairly-to-very clear; just don't feel that way about Sunday's main event.

The fight was unbelievable. Agree with the sentiment that it went 2-2-? and that the incumbent shouldn't lose his belt in a fight like that. Alex took some absolute shots, especially in the fourth round. They both looked spent heading into the final round.

I thought Jones looked extremely flat footed the entire fight and was eating jabs, but Alex is definitely the better boxer so that was bound to happen.

I'd love to see a rematch, but it'd be a shame if Texeira got passed over.  I saw him fight live once and a few times on TV, and the guy is an absolute beast.

That's a good point, but I think Teixera kills Gustafsson.  AG was there to be hit, and GT has enormous power.  After last night, I think Glover beats JJ, too, but I'm willing to give Jones the benefit of the doubt.  There are so many variables that go into being primed for a 25 minute fight that any illness, injury or error in cycling can really throw you off your game.

Jones not only looked stiff, but he also looked like he was full of regret in the early rounds.  His takedowns were stuffed, he was out-punched, and then taken down.  It was like he vastly underrated AG, or vastly overrated himself and his training.  I know that feeling and how badly you never want to feel it again.  I think we'll see an all new Jones next time, but he also might not be willing to jump back in the cage ASAP.

JJ's coach Mike Winkeljohn said Jones was fighting with an injured foot, which would explain a lot, but he left the hospital with no broken bones, reportedly.

If Jones does want to get right back in, then I'd rather see him fight Teixeira because I don't like fights getting taken away from people.  I don't think JJ loses though.  I don't recall being impressed in Teixeira's win over Bader, but maybe I need to watch it again.

That's about how I pictured the potential rematch. Maybe I'm overestimating Jones, but I would bet a large amount of money on him in any potential rematch.  It was a great fight, but it looked to me like AG was operating at 100% (minus the final round where he was gassed) and Jones was about 70%.  Even though I might've given AG the fight if I were forced to score it, Jones still looked like the better fighter to me, and he also seems like the kind of guy to learn from an experience like this and grow from it immediately.

That was fucking mental.

I wish Sanchez buckled down and went for the KO instead of the choke on the two times he knocked Melendez down.

That was one of the most brutal bouts I've ever seen. Is there any doubt there'll be a rematch? Man - that was pure madness right there.

Ariel Helwani ‏@arielhelwani40m
Dana White announces on FOX Sports Live that Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva will coach the upcoming season of TUF Brazil.

Ariel Helwani ‏@arielhelwani39m
Dana told that to Chael in an interview. "You'll have a ton of security," he says to Chael. Chael says he didn't know it was official.

Ariel Helwani ‏@arielhelwani37m
BTW, Dana told Chael they would fight after the season. Obviously. No word just yet on where/when it will air in the US of A.

If all of this stuff didn't look staged at first, it does now.

I have to say though, I have loved this season of The Ultimate Fighter.  Women's MMA might be the best women's sport to watch.

Tito Ortiz hurt his neck training and now Bellator has cancelled the PPV and Tito/Rampage. The new fight card will be on free TV sometime before Thanksgiving (no date announced yet). I'm looking forward to Chandler/Alvarez.

I don't know but it looks like he's just another exciting fighter for the welterweight class.  He's gigantic.  Looks like a middleweight at least.

I feel like the UFC wants me to be excited about Rory MacDonald but I don't know that I am.

That was embarrassing. I will not watch another Chael Sonnen match. Why the UFC still employs this guy as a fighter is anyone's guess. Yea, he can talk but no one cares because he enters the octagon and gets smashed.

I mean he tapped to Rashad's love taps whilst flailing his legs.

Oh fuck does he really have another fight vs Wandy next? How?

Yup he's terrible.  That fight was only interesting because they're on TV together all the time.

I like both Hendricks and GSP but I hope Hendricks wins.

Hendrick's uppercut is going to be the one that hurts him or ends it. Like swinging a sledgehammer.

Hendrick's wrestling is for real. He's neutralized GSP's entire game. That's got to be another round for the challenger.
