Maybe, but if he was dealing with pain then, you'd think he would have just been pulled. I don't know, maybe it's just a pain tolerance issue and while it'll be there, it's a bit better than last time.

It still hinges on Edelman...if he's able to do some of the things he usually does, that will still create some room for even a hampered Gronk to do some work.

The PFW guys were saying Gronk looked awful against Miami -- no explosion, couldn't get any separation from the defender, and was basically limited to sideline jump balls.

At the time most of us chalked that up to protecting him, but it's possible that was wrong.
DRS said he was constantly standing or moving on the sidelines when he wasn't in so something is wrong. Whether it's the back or the knee, it's very worrisome to me.

I have back issues - and when they're bad, I'm like that.

The question is - has anyone gone back to older games and watched him on the sidelines? (I haven't) Its possible hes just a fidget.

I'm going with the idea that he's been in the same amount of pain for the last few weeks, hasn't in fact re-tweaked it, and is getting strategically-timed anti-inflammatories, painkillers and the like designed to produce maximum comfort tomorrow. My medical credentials—an off-tackle run through the humanities in undergrad as preparation for an MFA in Drama—are unimpeachable.

Very true. Epidural steroid injections, cortisone injections are give in intervals. Could of had one a couple of weeks ago and this is another round.

Had to be that catch and hit against the Jets on the drive to tie. I instantly thought that has to hurt his back.

Maybe the Gronk injury is a contrived distraction to take attention away from Jones! Timeline works for me.

If Maclin plays I want the Pats to leave him all but uncovered to start the game. See if they are bluffing.

my word.. about 1/3rd of the team on the Injury report.. I really hope this is a smokescreen from BB
I think it's a combination of just about everyone being banged up ... and Belichick tweaking the NFL after there was some chatter a year or so ago about the Pats playing fast and loose with the list

So then to me the question becomes, why the hell was he out there at all against Miami?

I can't remember the last time I felt this unconfident going into a playoff game.

Although it could have something to do with all the woe is me posts around here lately.

You and everyone else in New England.

Which is why I'm confident they'll blow the doors off this shitty offense and overrated defense.

How did you feel about the Ray Rice 83 yard game?

Can't come fast enough. We'll either be licking the wounds that have unfolded over the last 3 months, or it will be on to Denver.

I can, BAL in the divisional round last year. That was a much tougher matchup than KC is.

As injured as NE is I'm not sure there is a single position on either side of the ball they have a big advantage. Our OL will have its work cut out for them but KC is sending a bunch of backups out there against Sheard, Brown, Hicks, Nink and hopefully Jones.

This was posted in the game thread already but I think it belongs here. I love the end "I didn't come this far to only come this far. So we still got further to go" TB

I've said it once already this week, but I'll say it again. I don't predict outcomes or ever feel "confident" when playing any team that's remotely decent. Just like movies. My wife knows who the murderer is 20 minutes in. I don't even try to guess. Just along for the ride.

With that said... I feel differently this week. I don't buy the KC hype based off their shitty schedule. Their offense will have a really hard time putting up 20 points against a finally healthy Pats D. Conversely, even with a rusty Edelman and gimpy Gronk, I have a hard time seeing this offense not putting up 27+ points.

Any given Sunday, blah blah blah, but barring a few key turnovers - which can be said any week - the Patriots really should win this by 2+ posessions.

I'm with KFP. Pats force a 3 and out, drive down and score, then a Nink strip sack and Brady finds Gronk in end zone and it's 14-0 in 5 minutes.

Yup. I don't see anyway KC's offensive gets out of the teens against this defense at full staff. TB ain't puking on shoes like Hoyer did.

Hopefully this isn't accurate...

@JeffPHowe: Rob Gronkowski's not going to be ‘anywhere close to 100%’ vs. #Chiefs - #Patriots

Its not a stretch to think this. He's going to be limited, but hopefully can be utilized as well as possible. If he did get a knee injection(who knows what to believe anymore), let's hope it masks whatever pain there is and he can go out and perform.

I think all hell fire is about to released upon the mighty Chiefs. They will not get an opening kick off TD like last week. They are not ready for a 2 week rested Patriot team.

F that. I have faith in the Rapist, and I'm not talking about Bill Cosby. Pats are hosting the ACF champ game. Book it!
