Colts are signing former Ravens DT Arthur Jones to a deal around $6 million per season, per sources.

Damn, he was on my list of DT's I'd like to have. Oh well. 6m is too rich.

Sanders plays with Roethlisberger, Welker played with dogshit quarterbacks. Aside from that, we were adding Welker to a depleted WR core, not replacing our most productive pass catcher with him. Try again.

My point was that it is beyond myopic to point to the opinions of Steelers fans in a way to denigrate the opinion of the Patriots' front office on the relative value of Emmanuel Sanders. He could easily be miscast in an offense with a shit offensive line, running game, and a #1-heavy target monster like Antonio Brown.

Not to mention, Welker's addition to the 2006 receiving corps (#1 WR Reche Caldwell) would be quite a bit like adding Sanders to the currently-projected receiving corps of the 2014 Patriots.

$25 million guaranteed from the Raiders for Rodger Saffold is mind-boggling.

They and Cleveland have to overpay. Veldheer found a better deal in AZ and Houston is gone...rats off the sunken ship. The LT market has nothing left after 8 minutes of FA.

Veldheer got 35 total in AZ, doubt his guarantees are higher than Saffold's

Loyko has been wrong when he guaranteed he was right too many times for me to trust anything he says. I don't think he has any sources.

This, 1 million times over.

Very interesting.  If Talib gets around what Grimes got, I would be very happy with that deal.  I wouldn't be happy if he got north of $10/year and over $16 million guaranteed.
Revis dangling out there must be contributing to Talib's suppressed market at the moment too I bet.

Reports have Edelman visiting Ravens and Fletcher visiting Bucs
Big mistake not re-signing Edelman IMO. It's not just the receiving (which is clearly valuable) as he is the active leader in PR average (and best since the merger). He's not flashy there but seems to always get positive yardage, and knows when to make a fair catch...I don't recall a boneheaded play he made returning a punt. That seems really hard to replace -- having a guy who's elusive, speedy, AND not prone to muffing punts is hard to find.

Hopefully he doesn't get the offers he's looking for and decides to stay.

I like Edelman, but I wouldn't have given him the Amendola contract either. Fine with him walking
I'd have rather given it to Edelman than Amendola...and they can cut DA after this year with little dead money, correct?

If he signs for something crazy, sure, go with DA and the second-year guys, and hope Gronk is there. But I think they'll miss him in a lot of ways.

Sure, thats easy to say now, but no way if im the Pats im paying 2 injury prone guys the same deal.  People are very quick to forget that Edelmen had just as checkered a past as Amendola with regards to injuries.  Right or wrong, I think they are happy to bank on Amendola being the slot guy next season. Can't spend 10mil on that position.  They didnt pay Wes that much in his prime, no way they're locking up two injury prone guys for that kind of money who are somewhat redundent.

Vontae Davis got $20 million guaranteed.  That certainly affects the Talib and Revis market.

I'd rather have Talib than Davis

Why would the Broncos spend on Ward? They two good and young safeties already. Whatever Elway, spend away.

Wow, saw this in a Reiss article:

When considering Amendola and the core of the Patriots' 2013 free-agent class -- a group headlined by defensive lineman Tommy Kelly, safety Adrian Wilson and running back Leon Washington -- the financial payout ($8.35 million in signing bonuses plus about another $5 million in base salary) didn't align with what we saw on the field (in part due to injury).
Pats received very little for the money they spent on free agents from other teams last year.

Perceived disaster areas have to overpay. Still, Elway continues to do a nice job for the Broncos. He gets it. Once Manning is out of there, all bets are off.

The year before was maybe even worse - Fanene, Robert Gallery, Fells, Gregory, Ballard, Trevor Scott, some DB who spent the whole year on IR, 2 FB who didn't play, Addai ... yikes.
