Really disappointing so far. The Friars need to use their athleticism to get some easy buckets because they can't hit much in the half court offense.
He's forced to play this way to try and keep us in the game due to our limited options and Butler's stifling defense. He doesn't want to force the action as that isn't his game but nobody else is stepping up offensively.....he's going to need another nearly 20 point second half like he had last game for this very reason.NoLastCall125 said:Dunn is coming up really small this first half with 1-6 from the floor, forcing every shot and not dishing the ball while getting double and triple teamed. He's either been out of control or not aggressive enough. Still, there's no way they continue to shoot 28% from the floor. I think they'll come out swinging in the second half and still take this game, with Dunn and Henton going off.
While I am excited about the direction of the program, next year could be very very ugly if Dunn leaves. I'm talking about scoring 55-60 points a game ugly.HomeRunBaker said:Ugh one man can only do so much. We really have such little depth it wouldn't surprise me to end the season with 3 straight losses. Worst possible matchup vs St Johns then a tournament team in a 7/10 or 8/9 game.
No matter what I'm proud of what Cooley, Henton and Dunn have accomplished this year. In my mind we are free rolling from here.
Agreed. A loss to St Johns almost certainly gets us in the dredded 8/9 game with an outside shot at a 7. Nobody goes from a 6/7 seed to a playin game based on two losses to quality opponents.khalid1973 said:Their RPI is in the 20's......there is no way in hell they fall to a play in game....worst case is an 8 seed if they lose to St. John's
HomeRunBaker said:I've said during the season how terrible a matchup Villanova is for us as they go 7-8 quality deep whereas we play 4-5 freshman in our deep rotations.
I will say this.....it isn't uncommon for a 1-seed in these conference tournaments to take their initial game very lightly and rarely do these teams come out full throttle. The mentality many take into this spot is "Hey we are the 1-seed, these guys played yesterday, we beat them twice in the regular season." It can lead to Nova coming out soft and digging an early hole as in the back of their mind they want to save their legs for the next two days.

I think a six seed was theirs to lose and this performance will make sure they don't. Outside shot at a five seed (especially if the Hoyas lose), but it seems like in everyone's mock bracket the Friars are a six.PC Drunken Friar said:So, what are we looking at... A 5 or 6 seed? 7 if they want to screw us?
I'd guess zero chance at 5, most likely a 7 with a 6 or 8 not shocking. Really want to get away from that 8/9 game and a 6 could give us a good matchup vs the 11 then (hopefully) the 3.PC Drunken Friar said:So, what are we looking at... A 5 or 6 seed? 7 if they want to screw us?
