Yeah, I don't think he's part of the future of the club, but he's one of those guys who could benefit the team just by being in the clubhouse (sadly, COVID rules would prevent the return of the Brock-JD HR hugs). And that's not even considering his ties to the community and the Jimmy Fund.I’ll take him.
Here's the thing: If the Sox manage to trade Pillar/ JBJ, we really don't have another major league outfielder on the 60-man. If healthy, he could serve as a pretty good corner OF/ lead-off guy and make a bunch of SoSH'ers happy. He is going to come back to the Sox isn’t he?
He signed with the Brewers on February 21, which doesn't really indicate he had a lot of free agent interest. Given the lack of interest in him then, and the way he's played thus far, could his list of suitors really have grown? As long as he clears waivers, he'll cost next to nothing, so I suppose there might be teams ready to add him, but I can't imagine there will be significant competition for him.I realize he's had a down year (in 30 AB), but unless he's injured I'd have to think that there will be a long list of contending teams interested in him.
EDIT: And you'd have to think that he'd rather play for a contender than watch AA has-beens throw batting practice every game.
This article suggests current home is Texas. His wife is pregnant and home in Boston. Returning to the Sox might be a sentimental choice for both he and the team. Hell, he might decide not to sign anywhere and instead stay home for the rest of the season.
My mistake. Last I knew, the Holts lived year-round in Boston, so when I read that Lakyn was at home, I assumed it was still Boston. This article suggests current home is Texas.

From your lips to God's earsWe are literally playing out the string here with little or no hopes of any Post Season play. This would go a long way to exciting the fan base.
Bring him home.
You’re not alone but I just didn’t have the heart to say it out loud.I guess I'll stand alone--if the team is going nowhere, I'd rather not bring in 32 year old utility guy.
He can replace anyone on the pre/post game broadcastYou’re not alone but I just didn’t have the heart to say it out loud.
Also, I feel like some contending team with injuries/position players who could use late-inning defensive replacements (the A's? the White Sox? the Padres?) might take a shot once he passes through waivers.I guess I'll stand alone--if the team is going nowhere, I'd rather not bring in 32 year old utility guy.

Stop texting with my ex!You're not alone ... but you're heartless
Lol. Brock is a great guy with a big heart and we need more of those. To do what I don't know. Plus why should he want to be part of this epic fail of a season? I'm sure the Jimmy Fund kids would be happy to see him. You're not alone ... but you're heartless
You're not crazy at all. Many including me, have been beating that drum since Peraza was signed.Call me crazy, but I'd prefer Holt over Peraza.
He can replace Lin who looks like a guy that has no future with the team ever. At least Peraza was good 2 years ago.I guess I'll stand alone--if the team is going nowhere, I'd rather not bring in 32 year old utility guy.
I'm thinking he still wants to play, but if his time in uniform is drawing to a close I'd love to see him get a shot doing the pre or post. I have no idea what his skill level might be, but him just being himself is an upgrade over whatever it is that Lyons is.He can replace anyone on the pre/post game broadcast
We sure get right to the important stuff here. That’s a dumb name.
I told you Brock was bitter about moving from shortstop to being a Swiss army knife.Rippkin Penn Holt
Perhaps its going happen? That would make me inordinately happy. Hope it works out in the long run.
