The Salem Red Sox, the Advanced Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, and the City of Salem, Virginia announced today that they have executed a ten-year extension of the lease of Lewis-Gale Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark. The club’s four-year lease expired at the conclusion of the 2014 Carolina League season.

It should be noted that the owners of the Salem Red Sox (which happen to be the Red Sox via Fenway Sports Management) have extended the lease terms on use of the field. It is not an extension of the Player Development Contract (as those can not be extended at 10 year intervals).

Of course, with the Red Sox owning the team, it is unlikely that anyone other than the Red Sox minor league team will be playing there.
