Nice line at the end -- "Fame has found Malcolm Butler. Actually, you could say he went and grabbed it."loshjott said:Butler "hosted" party at a Vegas casino last night.

I thought he looked good in run support. Assuming Revis is back, I love the depth at CB. As poor as Arrington and Ryan were in the SB we know that, like Butler, in certain matchup s they're fine. Same as Browner....who can get toasted by certain WRs. Butler is at least that, and if he really runs 4.4 rather than 4.6, maybe he's bona fide goodbrandonchristensen said:Is there a chance that butler becomes a good corner?
All the talk after the SB has been how many picks he made in pre-season, how he's their biggest playmaker.
Could that translate into a McCourty-like role or is his tackling not good enough? His coverage skills were exceptional during the SB, he was also fingers on the ball on long passes.

Check this out, knowing that the refs check out all turnovers. What is this, the fifth thing Butler did perfectly on the play (cradling underneath the ball with his hand)? Spoilered in case you don't want to relive the potential terror.
Didn't he also make a football move after catching it? That step out of the end zone seemed to be that. I dunno. But I did throw up in my mouth when I saw that...so I got that going for me.Al Zarilla said:Somebody pointed out in one of the threads, I think Ed H., or was it Mystic M., that it was terrifying how Hightower almost punched the ball out of Butler's arm in trying to get him to the ground. Now that you mention it, by the pose Lockette's in. Still, last I saw in all the film and photos, it wasn't a slam dunk that he and the ball would get to the ground "safely".Adrian's Dome said:

Why is the ball so precariously perched in Butler's hand then? Also, Butler isn't all the way on the ground. Is he getting up?DrewDawg said:
That pic is WAYYYYYY after the INT.

Yes. I think if Hightower had stripped hm when he grabbed his arm, the correct ruling would have been interception and fumble. Since he was not going to ground in the act of making the catch, I don't think the Dez Bryant rule would apply, and he wouldn't have needed to complete the catch through the ground. But that's really one I wouldn't have been to excited to leave in the hands of the refs/replay. If the decided that the contact with Lockette caused the process of going to the ground, incomplete is theoretically possible on replay, though I agree with you he seemed to make a football move before going to ground.TheoShmeo said:Didn't he also make a football move after catching it? Did exactly that. Thank you, BC, for this gift. Great to watch...brandonchristensen said:Side note...

McDaniels: “Tom learns from everything, and he doesn’t let it bother him. What happened next was Tom took advantage of Earl [Thomas] not being quite as aggressive as he could have been. And Danny Amendola played the back of the end zone perfectly. Tommy knows, in the tight red area, you always have to err away from the defender.”
Thomas and Amendola were on the end line, Thomas to Amendola’s right, and Brady threw hard to the outside of Amendola, away from Thomas. Touchdown. Seattle 24-21.
