I hope you guys are playing 1H in these too. These autos are the only time I always split my stake between 1H and FG.

Got 240.5 last night. So it goes.
Lol so did I but split w 1H. Hit some good lives though in early 2Q and end of 3Q. I know some have picked up on market timing for live Unders but I'm write something up on this later. There is both a science and an art to it.

@HomeRunBaker tough beat with that second Q on the 1H U117.5. After a 70 point Q like that do you look to bet the under live?

Thats definitely what you are looking for and one of the factors if other boxes are checked off with it.

The easy one however is when teams give each other layups lines and open threes that lead to one of those 17 pts in 70 seconds type of runs followed by a TO. Not only do the players exhale, but the algorithm skyrockets, and both coaching staff are making the defensive emphasis with adjustments. It's like a triple header of goodness.

Really hammered this. 16 total points with 10 minutes to go in the 1H. Looking pretty solid.
Teams combined for 5-30 shooting behind the arc for a 26-24 halftime score. Who woulda ever thunk it on a neutral court at 8:30am?

Old Dominion/UMass coming up at 4pm is still an 11am start for two East Coast teams and a 154.5 Total.

Since we are talking some college hoop numbers here too consider the late game in Hawaii for complete the 4 for 4 Hawaiian Under sweep today. Each team was on their 3rd game in 4 days and entering the nightcap. Only one team shot 3's over 32% with most in the 20's and their pace slower than prior Hawaii games this week.

This seems logical. Every one of these games hasn't even been close and the shooting is horrific.

Merry Christmas all! Auto day unders to distract us!

For the non day games…do teams tend to play harder/the games take on a more playoff feel? Or do we get layup lines with teams looking to get out of there early?

Any of the pros on here have a read?

Are you referring to NBA Christmas games? My recollection is that the players know that the world is watching and they compete pretty good. Not IST or playoff good but good for a regular season game. As much as i love an entire day of standalone NFL games i'm going to miss those entire days of NBA standalones without the distractions from the pigskin.

13-48 in the final game for the cash! Back at the old Maui Invitational venue they were known for the soft rims...maybe not so much at the Stan Sheriff Center. Something to remember for next year.

Merry Christmas to all Silver Dollar heads this morning!! I'll try a quick (yeah right) rundown of todays slate.

Knicks/Bucks - Maybe the most intriguing matchup from my seat as they meet for 4th time this year. Bucks now -3.5 and 241.5 after touching -4 on the overnight.

G1 the Knicks outplayed the Bucks in a 5-pt loss but couldn't withtstand Milwaukees 20-39 3-pt shooting while countering with 10-39 of their own. Brunson ran circles around Lillard all night but this was prior to the Bucks being the train they are now.

G2, also in Milwaukee, saw Thibs insert some Doug Moe into his gameplan and run run run on all makes or misses. It was working ok but again, when you shoot 30% from three while your opponent shoots 60% even @benhogan will say this is a make or miss league. ;)

G3, in NY. More of the same, Knicks shoot 30% from 3, Bucks 50% and cruise most of the night. Brunson and Randle had a field day again but the Knicks second unit was awful once again. Bench shooting, Knicks 5-19 and Bucks 14-22 led by Bobby Portis 9-14.

Interesting to note.....

* Mitchell Robinson was no factor in the two games he played but bumping up Hartenstein and Taj Gibson into those 5 minutes is a massive downgrade to M-Robs presence alone.

* Quickley has shot 3-15 in the last two Bucks losses which can't happen for the Knicks to stand a chance with their thin bench today.

* What's up with the 3-pt disparity in this series? The Bucks are loaded w shooters while the Knicks don't defend the 3 very well which can account for much of their bump but over 50% every game? And the Knicks under 31% every game? Variance, Luck, Matchup Adv....hmmm.

* Dynamic of being second leg of a B2B and a holiday day game to boot.

Nothing pregame for me but will be watching to see if anything live transpires in the 1H.

Game 2: Denver -6.5 and 234.5. Total has been bet up this morning from 233.

Fun variables in play with the Nuggets coming in late Saturday night following a week on the road winning games leading up to Christmas. Usually a return from a trip leads to distractions in approach for the first game and this is kinda a biggie one. Warriors play exactly one road game from Dec 18th to Jan 12th...and that is today.

Nuggets won first matchup without Murray or Draymond in the lineup in a typical Nuggets slow paced game but without explosive scoring. Today we have the leagues slowest paced teams Total climbing toward 240....welcome to NBA 2023!

Both teams playing above their par of late, I expect Denver to win but not playing them by margin here while noting that this number is 6.5 which is a tick below the key 7 that I discussed some in the past. In a game which figures to be close and Denver winning that is not nothing but passing pre nonetheless. I do lean Under in this one and may add some full game to mg auto 1H/FG day starts especially if it continues to climb with the expected crawl pace capping my number on this one.

One other thing of note from last year and I didn't backtest at all bc I don't play props but the stars do seem to shine on this day. Last year we saw Embiid, Randle, LeBron, Tatum, Morant and Jokic all score 35+ on this day. I should look at these point totals but consider the overs for some of these stars and probably consider Brunson too since he has scored tons vs Bucks this year.

Edit: If I can't get other thoughts out in time I like Over Bos/LA, Dallas +4 (Phoe is so overvalued right now) and lean Den at below 7. Also noting that Miami has a ridiculous XMas day record....maybe something to do w Spo and when the lights are on but likely more than just coincidence.

To kick off the season I had the Knicks as an OVER & the Bucks as an UNDER on win totals  so it's not surprising that I'm getting burned by those Make or Miss League shenanigans.

Note: after every loss, in his 13-year-old Rec league, Hogan Jr proclaimed that if they just made a few more Step-Back Harden 3s they'd have WON!

So, the NBA doesn't hold a monopoly on Make or Miss in the game of hoops ;)

Merry Xmas to ALL and here's hoping Santa brings you many, many winners this year!

And there we go: shooting evened out (both teams shot 31% on not-high volume), and the Knicks were comfortably better in those conditions.

Sometimes it really is a make or miss league.

i wanted to play the Knicks as you could probably tell by my tone but ultimately passed. I could have placed more weight on that first meeting when the Knicks outplayed them pretty good but lost due the 3-pt disparity. I kept going back to not fading an NBA train and the Bucks have been on a good roll for a month now. Have to remember that one standalone game on Xmas is no different than one game in February with a 12 game slate.

No Butler and Embiid should speed the pace and remove some strong defenders from the floor.
Played some Over 227 here.

The second half of that 1Q was the living nightmare that every over player dreads. Comedy of errors that could have made several of the Rob Perez "Basketball is Beautiful" tweets. Yikes

Edit: Sixers missed their last 13 FGA of the 1Q.

I bet the over 20 mins before you posted it… Absent that stretch in the second half of the first this has been playing as we would have expected pregame. Hopefully they overcome the bad 1st.

Maxey and Melton, the Sixers starting backcourt, combining for 6-34 shooting. Maxey, 2-18, then completely redeems himself with a late meaningless 3 to get us to the magic 228!

Between their Guards shooting and the 1Q this really should have been a non-sweat. Happy with the win though.

So weird to be rooting for an over. And we get it with the brutal long range 3 with 20 seconds left. At least it evens out some of the under last minute pain! I need a shower.

Merry Christmas man. I finished 12-3 on the day based on your reads and tips on live betting.

Thank you. This thread has been awesome as always.
Damn that's a lot of plays. Care to share to evaluate them? I didn't have much live today but wasn't engaged until the night games and pretty much road the Heat Over and the Mavs perfect w the Under sneaking in. Very happy w reads today but also w my pure numbers which was responsible for the Mavs Under after it was bet up to the moon.

Edit: Merry Christmas to you as well!

Let's try this and see if it provides any color:

Knicks:
U242.5
1H U118
Knicks TT U119.5 - Premise here was Milwaukee plays harder D than usual at a slower pace
Added U248.5 at half

Warriors:
1H U115.5
Added 1H U119.5 after a run at a timeout
Added U234.5 after a hot start to Q3

Celtics:
O234.5
Between the 3rd and 4th brother in law gave me $100 Draft Kings gift card and added U249.5 on the premise pace would slow significantly in a close game at the time and shooting for the middle with a free bet

76ers:
O227

Mavs:
Mavs +4
Second Quarter after a Suns run and TO added Suns TTU118.5 and U243.5

In retrospect the Warriors add of U234.5, and the Mavs/Suns adds were to close for comfort, but ended up being a good day.

Looking at tomorrows 6-game slate and it's extremely unique.

Aside from Cavs/Mavs, the other 5 games each have the road team in their hotel tonight while the home team is playing a game. Two of them, Orlando and Brooklyn are playing on the road and traveling back home after midnight. If you're watching tonight pay attention to any Tatum/Embiid-like turned ankles or other injuries. The market may see questionable but can use experience in making better determination to gain edge.

Hah! Should've been a FD gift card to begin with. No bias or anything. ;)

I consider that basically a free roll or a bonus you can cash out. Now if you can't actually cash it out for equivalent value, you want something in plus money. If you can cash it out, you just treat it like an extra $100 as part of my bigger bankroll, and it would impact how much my given bet was for a short time on anything I liked from them.

That said, running through my system and odds screen right now for all the active major sports of NFL/NBA/NHL/NCAAF/NCAAB, nothing I really like right now on DK specifically, I'll find something, the nature of the market. It's a matter of when not if. And if I give the go, you need to act like Usain Bolt on crack. Because it's going to move hella fast, minutes at most and if we're luck. My prop suggestions for the NFL will be up later in the week.

Which reminds me: Would you all want similar threads to this one in BBTL and the MLB forum? Similar to this but devoted to those sports specifically. MLB obviously would be a bit closer to when everyone is signed in that league.

I’d love some MLB prop tips. It’s my favorite thing to bet but also my lowest yield by far. Feels like so much randomness although I know there are trends so sure I’m missing something. I find NFL to be the easiest but elevated injury risk makes prop betting hard.

Agreed! i appreciate all guidance, and similar threads for MLB (and NHL, as I would like to start following Bruins more closely) would be awesome.

On Xmas eve I went 5 for 5 on unders on the Hawaii NCAA games (one in game).

Under Mil-NY (lost)
Under GSW-Den (won half, won full game)
Over Celtics-Lakers (won)
Over Jrue pts (won)
Over Dwhite pts (won)
Over Tatum pts (lost - only 1/2 unit)
ML Mavs (won)

so 6 for 8 on Xmas, which seemed pretty good.

This is a great example of being ahead of the curve. Because of this post I grabbed the bucks at -135 to win. Now the best you can get is -240.

4-1 with only the Knicks not covering so these performed well. Hope you guys got some. 3 of the 4 won by 20+. The only two I played were Sixers and Bucks but no complaints.

I was driving from West Virginia to South Florida from 3am to midnight while being in traffic much of the time, nearly getting sandwiched between stopped cars and a speeding oil truck and having done 12 hours the day prior with nearly all traffic. Used my old point guard skills in recognizing truck didn't see line of red brakes lights....quick move onto left shoulder (thank god there WAS a left shoulder) and passed 4 cars only to have trucker follow me and do same prior to coming to stop inches from me. Scary moment but mostly after the fact as didn't have time to be scared when too busy reacting. Glad I brought my A-game to 95.

Decent stagger to tonight's 7-game slate with Under 227 in Lakers/Hornets my only preflop action so we can watch for live edges. Charlottes offense has bogged down a ton of late the longer they go without Ball and Lakers haven't exactly been lighting up the scoreboard either. Expect the Lakers to have a decent lead in 4Q to allow them to LeBron-pace it to the finish line (the risk here is blow out with game decided and a 2nd unit numbers hunt). Situational hedge or late add is live and I'll post here if there is an edge.

Ha, I was similarly hoping Pistons would win the first half so I could hammer their team total under in the 2nd half.
8-0 run since my click! LFG!! Lol. It's now down to +174.

Sticking to pizza theme played a pepperoni and onion on -9.5 during this TO.
