Looks like they have scraped putting the AFC and NFC logos in each teams end zones in favor of a bigger font for the team.
You're thinking baseball and basketball.Might this be due, primarily, to home field/court/ice advantage?
Home teams dressing in their whites vs away darks?
Doesn't seem like a stretch.
Dallas almost always wears white at home. Miami often does too, especially during day games in the sun. You're thinking baseball and basketball.
Most (all?) NFL and NHL teams wear dark jerseys at home.
Those two always used to, plus Washington. Back in the day you only saw the Dallas blue and Washington burgundy jerseys once a season, the road team when they played each other. Now these kids with their crazy color rushes and throwbacks, you never know what you'll see.Dallas almost always wears white at home. Miami often does too, especially during day games in the sun.
Yeah back in College (in Philadelphia) I was told that the Eagles would wear withe at home to make the Cowbows wear blue).Dallas almost always wears white at home. Miami often does too, especially during day games in the sun.
Yeah but black radiates heat better. I guess it depends on the lighting. You want your uniform to be light in visible wavelengths, reflecting the lights, but dark in the infrared, cooling you off.Honestly, I assumed the Patriots picked white for the reason that heat is deflected more than dark colors, which absorb heats more. I'd imagine it gets -really- hot in domes.
(And consequently, why the Eagles seem to overheat in Super Bowl while Tom Brady seems as cool as the other side of the pillow.)
I'm pretty sure the Giants did the same to Dallas at least once back in the late 80's/ early 90's.Yeah back in College (in Philadelphia) I was told that the Eagles would wear withe at home to make the Cowbows wear blue).
Your memory is correct — the (Parcells/Belichick) Giants wore white at home only against the Cowboys from ‘83-‘87. Didn’t really work. If I’m reading the results right the Boys went 3-2 in those games.I'm pretty sure the Giants did the same to Dallas at least once back in the late 80's/ early 90's.
Have to say, I love those purple seats. That has to be a great stadium to watch a game
It’s not even basketball anymore. Now often times even both teams wear dark in NBA games. You're thinking baseball and basketball.
Most (all?) NFL and NHL teams wear dark jerseys at home.
My formative years as a Bruins fan was during the era when NHL teams wore white at home. It still seems a little weird to me to watch the Bruins playing in their black jerseys at the Garden. You're thinking baseball and basketball.

I agree the purple looks awesome. Orlando City's primary color is purple and I think it looks great (and the stadium is a really fun place to see a game):Have to say, I love those purple seats. That has to be a great stadium to watch a game
So what you're saying is that the color of a team's uniform doesn't have any bearing on the outcome of the game?Because this is the internet and literally everything is online, here’s a list of every instance in modern NFL history when a home team has worn white at home.

While this is true, there is a very active board I've been a part of for over 10 years that is completely devoted to sports logos and uniforms. There are plenty of fans who are irrationally interested in this topic. I do find it amusing when it blips on the radar of regular team discussion, though. I think it should happen more oftenJust another way to really piss non-Patriots fans off, Patriots fans discussing at length the pros and cons of the uniform type. Every other team would kill to just be going. Enjoy it while it lasts, no doubt though.
I don't mean to pollute the thread, but you are touching on a big argument in my house. When it comes to normal clothes (i.e., I have no idea what shade my shirt is in the infrared spectrum), say, plain cotton shirts and shorts, is it better on a hot sunny day to wear black, or white, all other things being equal?Yeah but black radiates heat better. I guess it depends on the lighting. You want your uniform to be light in visible wavelengths, reflecting the lights, but dark in the infrared, cooling you off.
Rookie mistake. So what you're saying is that the color of a team's uniform doesn't have any bearing on the outcome of the game?
So, in a domed stadium, there may be more infrared radiation than light heat, so Bill Belichick just outsmarted himself? Nah, not enough of either compared with the players heating themselves up with exertion, right?Yeah but black radiates heat better. I guess it depends on the lighting. You want your uniform to be light in visible wavelengths, reflecting the lights, but dark in the infrared, cooling you off.
Better to wear white on hot, sunny day. When is the last time you wore a black shirt on such a day? If driven home to change when I've found myself out in the hot sun in a black or dark blue shirt.I don't mean to pollute the thread, but you are touching on a big argument in my house. White if it's sunny and still air. If there's a breeze, black.I don't mean to pollute the thread, but you are touching on a big argument in my house. Are you sure this isn't a step up?Wednesday of week 1 and we've already devolved into uniform color arguments.
This is refreshing. In the past we've been endlessly litigating deflated footballs and team staff using cameras from the wrong location in the stadium.Wednesday of week 1 and we've already devolved into uniform color arguments.
Under the 'fast facts and history' on that page it mentions that the Pats have never played at US Bank Stadium. If I'm looking at the Patriots team page on pro-football-reference correctly, it looks like Brady's record in stadiums that he's never played in before* is 26-10.
This is a good point. This is refreshing. In the past we've been endlessly litigating deflated footballs and team staff using cameras from the wrong location in the stadium.
Good question- made me look up the IR absorbance properties of cellulose (cotton). Turns out cellulose has a strong absorption/emission region around 10 micron wavelength, which is the peak emission wavelength of the temperature of the human body, so yeah, white t shirt FTW in the summer- reflects visible, emits IR, win win.I don't mean to pollute the thread, but you are touching on a big argument in my house. Yeah see my post in the injury threadWasn't Wise hurt on the play where the Jags got called for a hold but the Pats declined (just before the two-minute warning in the first half)? I thought I saw him out there after that though.
A bit odd to ignore the Manchester, NH airport under flight connections.
If New England were hosting the Vikings, would you fault them for neglecting to include Rochester, MN in their airline guide?A bit odd to ignore the Manchester, NH airport under flight connections.
Well played, sir. Everybody in my house loved this. Should the Iggles do the smart thing and wear brown pants?Would have gone red jerseys, so the bad guys can’t see you bleed.
They listed Hartford and NYC airports for New England fans to fly out to MN, but not Manchester. If New England were hosting the Vikings, would you fault them for neglecting to include Rochester, MN in their airline guide?
I’ll wait while you look it up on Wikipedia.
No, because the Yosemite shuttle doesn't stop there. QED.If New England were hosting the Vikings, would you fault them for neglecting to include Rochester, MN in their airline guide?

Yeah, I mean it's an oversight. But my point was that Manchester is a small city and not one that comes to mind to anyone who doesn't live/visit New England. They listed Hartford and NYC airports for New England fans to fly out to MN, but not Manchester.
I think past practice would suggest vomit-colored uniforms for the Eagles.Well played, sir. Everybody in my house loved this. Should the Iggles do the smart thing and wear brown pants?
Green it is!I think past practice would suggest vomit-colored uniforms for the Eagles.
Bittersweet for the Jags... Their Thursday unis make the big game, but their team doesn't...I think past practice would suggest vomit-colored uniforms for the Eagles.
The revised Eagles Green sucks so hard. It screams 1990s. It's like one step removed from teal. Go back to normal green, for chrissakes.Green it is!
Wait, are you meeting me and my kids to show us some kick ass planets and shit or not?No, because the Yosemite shuttle doesn't stop there. QED.
So true. Their old green and silver was great. The revised Eagles Green sucks so hard. It screams 1990s. It's like one step removed from teal. Go back to normal green, for chrissakes.
