I was at the Binghamton Mets game last night (4th of July) which had fireworks scheduled after the game. The game went 16 innings and ended around 12:30am.  I left shortly before midnight.  Being it was the 4th of July and all and with the kids in attendance to see fireworks I feel the game should've been interrupted at some point for the fireworks show.  Is there a rule that prevents this?  The fireworks show was held after the game.

You might want to put this in the minor league forum where it would get more attention. I don't know of any specific rule that prevents an interuption except for the fact that alot of effort and time would go into putting on the show and it might not logistically be possible to continue the game once the fireworks were over. It's not like the brief fireworks that might go off if a guy hits a homer.

When I worked in MiLB we had to clean up the outfield after fireworks shows.  There would be a significant amount of shrapnel from the fireworks show scattered all over the field.  Just another reason I grew to hate fireworks shows.

While I am unaware of any rule that would prohibit this from happening, I don't see it as a realistic option.  I think the parent clubs would get pretty annoyed if it was a frequent occurrence.  I think the home team/coaches would hate it, but the visitors would hate it even more. You want us to add 45 minutes of sitting around to our day? No thanks.

Plus promotional schedules are always "subject to change" anyway.

Fireworks show at 12:30am? Jesus, how many complaints do you think the Binghamton PD got from the locals? It's 10:10pm right now and my town sounds like a friggin warzone with all of these amateurs setting off stuff. i cant imagine folks were thrilled with a full blown professional display pushing 1:00am.

Clean-up is a non-issue as the fireworks are set off outside the park just beyond center field.  If it wasn't the 4th of July with many children in attendance I'd see it differently.

Our fireworks were "set off outside the park just beyond center field."  It can be an issue, especially with even a slight wind.

But the heart of the matter is you and those kids didn't buy a ticket to a fireworks show.  You bought a ticket to a baseball game with a fireworks show after the game.  The game is going to take precedence.

There certainly should have been a curfew time for the fireworks part of the evening, more for the neighborhood than the fans at the game.  At the team I worked for, If the post game fireworks were cancelled all the fans remaining would have received at general admission ticket to a future game.

What is this the Australian Open?    Not sure if it happens every year, but they have delayed the men's finals in the middle of the match for a fireworks display.

Nothing ever stopped the Yankees from some of those 10-12 minute long 7th inning stretch delays. So I guess a fireworks display wouldn't be impossible

All of this just reminds me of 1985 when the Braves had the wisdom to set off fireworks at about 4:15 in the morning after a 19 inning game with the Mets.
